I have an update for you. Watched in on premiere day... and for what it is (not that deep-slasher)... LOVED IT. It's very fun and just... better than anything I expected. Jennifer Love Hewitt still has that IT girl-thing. Loved seeing her in her element. Surprisingly... not irritated by the new characters. Huge recommend for fans of the original. My husband also loved it. 😊

Really? I see viewers are divided by the film. Some agree with you, while others strongly disagree. I will check it out, especially for the post-credits scene.

Yes. We enjoyed it. Times and times more than any of the Scream sequels for example. I did not expect to smile and have so much fun. I went there in a pretty sour mood but the movie completely changed it. And... The group of people watching the movie next to us... Came out with one of the women saying... "How cool was that?" Overall the whole audience was happy and they didn't even bother us with talking and too much noise... Which to me always means they are interested.

And there is a surprise cameo that made my jaw drop. 😅

Well, I am glad you had such a good time. But I prefer the Scream sequels, the last one was fun, it's the superior franchise IMO. I do look forward to catching up with these characters though, and the surprise cameos.

It was watchable, but I wouldn't say it was good. I did enjoy some stuff, though—the inclusion of the podcaster, influencer, and more fluid characters. I also thought the hanging of the dead bodies was cool. The movie has a CW Soap vibe. I did not hate the reveal of the killer; I just hoped the writing supported him more.  I would have liked to see him having more issues with the governor and the cops in town, maybe trying to close his bar and force him out of town.

Since the group was innocent here, I wish Stevie had just blackmailed them for money.

There was a lack of chase scenes, and Julie and Ray were not in it enough for me. Julie deserved at least one chase scene. I didn't feel a sense of urgency until the post-credits scene.

Danica's dream sequence felt more like a nightmare. Maybe it was her guilty conscience because a part of me thinks she was in on it with the killers, and they're holding off on that for the sequel.

I loved it. Was not expecting to. But I had to go and see it quickly since the latest trend seem to be people spoiling everything 24 hours after a movie officially releases as quick and as loud as possible. Glad I was unspoiled...outside of the post-credit scene and that was teased in interviews anyway. 'Who we going to f@#$ up this time?' can live rent-free in my head.

That said...I feel this one will get the same treatment as SCREAM 4 did...which was ahead of its time then and has become more valued as time has gone on. It found it quite meta and liked that the kills were more vicious (though I loathed Act 3) and they balanced the vibe well with seriously for our legacy characters with the Gen Z vibe with the newbies. Not that I liked them, but I didn't hate them, either.

Can't agree more. I went in expecting to hate it... and when it was over... I had a smile on my face. So did my husband. It was a huge surprise. Now when times has passed, I want to watch it again... which is a huge sign that it was good.

IKR!!! I really was not expecting too much. And I too left with a smile on my face. So unexpected. And I would totally do a rewatch. Bodes well I feel for the Urban Legend reboot.
