BTG S1E16 3-17-25 between Pamela & Dani

P: What in the hell are you doing in your ex-husband's house?

Were you able to get everything?

P: Yes & you don’t get to see any of it until you answer my question. Why are you here? And, what is it with this strange but very specific shopping list?

Dani holds something up.

P: [gasps] Dani! ... Consider the source. That man is not fit to kiss your Lesboutins. You matter a  hell of a lot more than he does.

This is why you are my eldest, make that dearest friend in the whole world.

P: Same goes. What needs to be done?

We’ve got to get everything back like it was. There cannot be one speck of evidence that can be used against me.

P: Bill can be a force in a courtroom.

Who cares about him? I fear the wrath of Anita Dupree.

P: Danielle Dupree, you are nothing if not consistent & that is not a compliment.

I will admit I am an act first & ask questions later type of gal.

P: You always say that when we’re in the middle of an impossible situation you’ve created!

Now is not the time, Pamela. We don’t have time to delve into the core of my personality. I can’t have Bill & Hayley get back from their stupid honeymoon & put it together that I was here.

P: Your breaking in here is bad enough, all the other is just cherries on top.

Dani explains about the nice Security Guard seeming to like her.

P: If you do manage to get caught somehow, please leave me out of it.

I have to. I may have to rely on you to bail me out of jail.

Is this someone you should be dealing with? I got the drama on lock. Leave it to me. You are my sister. You have loved & protected me every moment I've been in this world. It's my turn to stand up for you.

Dani: I am not ashamed of you. Just look at you! But I thought we agreed to keep this quiet.
Andre: Do you see anyone else in this room? This is quiet. It's just you & me & me wanting to know what's happening here?
Dani: Well, Andre, when 2 people, let's say, are highly compatible, have chemistry, etc., etc., etc. there's this fascinating thing called sex! It's like a mutual hobby but sweatier.

Andre: Yeah, more entertaining & very fulfilling. I'm just saying what else is there to us?
Dani: And, you do it very, very well. I didn't hear you complaining earlier.
Andre: I mean, I'm not, but I also like you when we're not having sex.
Dani: Is that unusual for you?
Andre: I mean, I hate to admit it, but yeah, ... Before by now, I'd be feeling restless & ready to make my next move, but with you, it's different. Why can't we take this to the next level?
Dani: When I was with Bill, I gave him everything that made me me, to the point where I didn't recognize myself. I can't risk the abyss again.
Andre: You know I wouldn't ask you to do that, right?
Dani: I know what a good man you are. I need time to figure out the kind of woman I am. I need to keep us where we are right now. Does that make sense?
Andre: Yeah. Yeah, of course. You do you and I'll do you. I'm gonna go.

    • Definitely. It's not bad at all, but yesterday was just an anomaly considering we haven't had an episode that bad before.
    • I caught most of the episodes during that time period.   Subsequently Bell or Alden (I forget which) revealed that Peggy's rape story was done for strategic ratings purposes.  Chris's rape had occurred earlier, before the show really caught on & was near the middle or the lower end of the ratings.  Bell had been pleased with the concept and wanted the rape story to play-out for a much larger audience.  By the 1975-1976 season, the show was near the top of the ratings and was extremely popular among high school & college kids.  He felt the time was right to re-tell the story.   When I was watching in 1976, I didn't find it especially "cruel" that lightning had struck twice in the Brooks family.  I felt it was more of a continuation of Chris's storyline, giving her a chance to continue dealing with the trauma of her own rape.
    • Dan being de facto HW explains a lot. It's clear the show changed direction on a dime according to his interests or whims.
    • Really enjoyed today's episode the whole way through. Having Drew and Nina as red carpet hosts was a brilliant move. You could really see Cameron Mathison channeling his own experiences as a TV host for shows like Entertainment Tonight, but putting a more sinister spin on the host's glib patter. And Cynthia Watros gave some amazing reaction shots during Drew's interactions with people like Carly, Joss, and Willow.  I also really liked the Alexis/Kristina scenes. I know a lot of us find Kristina exasperating, and she is, but Kate Mansi and Nancy Lee Grahn do a great job of portraying a very real dysfunctional mother/daughter dynamic.
    • The episode she got killed off in - which made Wendy a prime suspect in her murder (her car was spotted outside the house) and then Wendy mysteriously disappeared from town.

    • What Dan Curtis never seemed to understand -- and what Art Wallace knew from the get-go -- is that a slow, suspenseful build-up creates a far more satisfying episode than the constant "cliffhangers" that never amounted to much.  ("I'm going to kiillll you, Julia!" before every commercial break, lol.)
