This was written before Leslie Charleson passed away and they had hoped that she could appear. Monica is still alive for this but offscreen. The character Laura will be featured at the dedication. The article says that there will be a separate tribute episode filmed later to honor Monica... (it doesn't say but presumably after the character passes away?) Attached here for easier viewing. it shows the new atrium set: alr.mp4 A new set for the hospital: Valentini in Variety: “... the the new wing for Monica, which is a really beautiful set. It’s pretty incredible.” The set of which he speaks is an “airy” atrium, which Valentini says gives a “more indoor and outdoor” look and feel to the show, something he plans on carrying further into the summer. “We’re always indoors, so I’m always looking for ways to challenge the production designers to figure out a way to open it up or bring us at least partially outdoors. That’s why Sonny’s house and the Quartermaine solarium came about, because they’re very open. They have big exteriors.” Throughout the April 1 episode, there’s also a nod to the heart to the relationships in Port Charles — including the one between Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Laura (Genie Francis), as seen in the exclusive clip below — to those who have come through the hospital doors, both as staff and as patients, that have left behind loved ones. Many are remembered on a memorial wall in the new wing. end quote Edited March 28Mar 28 by janea4old
March 28Mar 28 Member Dedication of of the Dr. Monica Quartermaine Cardiac Care Center .... why is Sidwell in this photo? Also, Sonny is completely irrelevant but the show promoted him being there. And they didn't invite Jason?

Forgive me, but I'm not feeling this closeness between them. Sonny is not a good guy, and hearing Laura tell him he always shows up when it counts made me feel nauseous.

Frank always insures that Sonny will always be written to appear in episodes that count (even if he's irrelevant). And then gives those words to Laura because Genie is the voice of GH. Gross. March 30Mar 30 Member Quoting the Variety article again: "Throughout the April 1 episode, there’s also a nod to the heart to the relationships in Port Charles — including the one between Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Laura (Genie Francis), as seen in the exclusive clip below — to those who have come through the hospital doors, both as staff and as patients, that have left behind loved ones. Many are remembered on a memorial wall in the new wing." My question: Is it just going to be the same photos from the previously-located wall of photos? Or will they add other prior staff and patients to the wall? Asking because I never saw the need for Britt Westbourne to be on the existing memorial wall -- they added her there after she died. I know Britt was co-chief-of-staff briefly, but her character just wasn't important to the show. But she shouldn't have been included with the mainstays of Lucille, Jessie, Steve, Tony, Bobbie, Alan, Amy Vining, Gail Baldwin, Epiphany, etc. on the existing memorial wall. Perhaps if they expand the photos wall in the new cardiac wing, to have a "less important photos" in a side section to show minor characters who are deceased such as short-term staff and patients, then maybe I'd accept Britt there. But not on the main wall. Edited March 30Mar 30 by janea4old
