ARTICLE: ‘As The World Turns’ Alum Billy Magnussen To Topline Untitled Jonathan Glatzer Series

Billy Magnussen, As The World Turns, Tell Me A Story

“As The World Turns” alum Billy Magnussen (ex-Casey Hughes), will topline the currently untitled Jonathan Glatzer Silicon Valley series for AMC and AMC+. Sarah Goldberg (“Barry”) was the first to be cast in the project.

According to Deadline, which first reported the news, the AMC Studios produced drama series is set inside the bubble of Silicon Valley, amid misguided corporate cultures, moony innovation labs and cutthroat private high schools. It is centered around a rift between a self-appointed “inventor of the future” tech CEO (Magnussen) and his self-serving “performance psychologist” (Goldberg), who is engulfed in a scandal sparked by the exploitation of personal data.

Along with Glatzer, the series will be executive produced by Gina Mingacci (“Killing Eve”) and is one of many high-profile Silicon Valley-set dramas put in development, but the first to receive a series order. A writer on such shows as “Succession” and “Better Call Saul,” among others, Glatzer was a producer on the latter series and a supervising producer on the former. He was also a co-executive producer of Apple TV’s “Bad Sisters.”

As for Magnussen, since exiting his role on the CBS soap “As The World Turns” in 2010, following the show’s cancellation, he has wracked up several dozen television and film credits, including starring roles in such shows as “Maniac,” “Tell Me a Story,” and “Made for Love.” He most recently starred in the series “The Franchise” for Max, the streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery.

Magnussen has made memorable appearances in the shows “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” “The Bold Type” and “Black Mirror,” among others. Some of his film credits include “Ingrid Goes West,” “Game Night,” “No Time to Die,” and more recently “Spy Kids: Armageddon” and “Road House,” also starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Conor McGregor.

Later this year, Magnussen will lend his voice when he plays the role of Pleakly in the live-action reimagining of the 2002 Disney animated classic, “Lilo & Stitch.” The movie is about a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family and is set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025.
