Interesting that Rachel was placed in the center of that promo. Wonder how Jacquie Courtney felt about another sign she was being edged out as AW #1 leading lady?

There are several interesting and confusing things about this promo. First, Rachel and Mac were already a couple by this point, and they might have already been married. So why does the promo feature Rachel and Steve? The Alice/Steve/Rachel triangle had been over for months. And who are the brothers mentioned in the promo? I believe the only two brothers on the entire show at this time were Steve and Willis. But Rachel had moved on from Steve at this point, and she was NEVER involved with Willis. This entire ad sends some weird messages. I wonder who wrote it...

If I'm not mistaken, VW kept this hairstyle (or very similar) until Rachel's brain surgery in 1978. At that point (since Rachel's head was supposedly shaved), VW got a new shorter hair style and the character was said to be wearing a wig for a while. Very soon after this, VW went through a series of wavy (and occasionally curly) perms. Some of those perms worked better than others.

Yes, that sounds about right

It might have become a bit more natural for a short time, less full and sprayed, before the brain tumor. Some of those later perms were awful.

Certainly looks that way, but even before Lemay it felt like most people were watching to see what that horrid Rachel was up to next. And there was a feeling that Courtenay's Alice was almost luminously beautiful, Rachel was more sexual. And attractive enougj while also relatable

Good points. But it wasn't a tumor that brought about Rachel's brain surgery in '78. Sven had kidnapped Rachel and hidden her in the pump-house on the Cory estate. When that was discovered, Sven pushed Rachel and knocked her down, as he was trying to escape. Rachel hit her head on a ledge of concrete and suffered brain damage which required surgery. As if the kidnapping wasn't enough. LOL.
