Yeah; I re-watched his Locher Room interview. Michael Lowry three-way phone'd Warlock, he got to set and Valentini handed him a script and said, "We're taping you at the end of the day.  You got this." And, I don't think he was a pinch-hit. He was a full-on replacement for Lowry.

Skye could come back.

And then, for @carolineg, Brenda could interview at Crimson for Deception.

Yes, but BW's sole purpose for appearing was to kill Ross off in just a few appearances. If they could've gotten Lowry for that they would have.

Skye Chandler should not be within ten miles of running a core GH business. She can come in for her little stints though! I don't mind her causing trouble and staying off, off, off contract.

I agree SK's AJ didn't get much to do at first.  He did get the Jason brain damage story and he played the initial part of the Carly/AJ ONS.  I think the show recast him directly after they slept together and Carly poured the booze on him to make him think he relapsed.  I recall they re shot those scenes with BW for flashbacks.  There is just a swagger of faux confidence that SK's AJ had.  It worked so perfectly with the character.  I also thought he connected well with SD, LC, and SBu.

Considering the fairly sudden circumstances of SK's firing I do get the idea to cast someone that was known, reliable, and solid.  BW never quite "fit" for me as AJ, but I did get used to him.  He really did what he could with a thankless role once AJ became Sonny's favorite whipping boy.

I wonder if we will ever find out who was originally cast as the AJ replacement.  I would assume it would be a 'soap' name at least considering how front burner the AJ/Carly/Michael story was at the time.

Brenda should kick Natalia right out of Deception and take her role immediately.

Extremely. The central story was his brother, Warlock's Ross was an expendable guest player who only appeared a few times. You don't want to know.

Given the era, my bet is a primetime name who couldn't hack it or had other problems.

Yes. She last appeared in 2012 challenging Blair re: the resemblance between Lorenzo Alcazar and Tomas Delgado from OLTL, both played by Ted King. Ron never resolved that weird subplot due to the lawsuit, but Blair did end her engagement to Tomas who had promptly mysteriously disappeared overseas (which, unintentionally, cued up Todd and Blair reuniting on OLTL 2.0).

I do remember BW saying that Christopher Atkins had auditioned for A.J. - which would have been interesting to watch, lol - but I don't think he was the one they'd picked.

I'd also take BW back on daytime in a heartbeat (although, maybe not as A.J. again, lol).  Again, maybe not the greatest actor, but definitely one who puts in the work, which goes a long way with me.

I didn't entirely hate him on ATWT either.  And I thought he did quite well, too, at Y&R, despite not having much to do either time.  (Hadn't he been on Y&R before, in another role?)

Overall, though, it seems like no one other role for KS has landed the way Scotty has, and I think that's simply because no other show has written to his strengths.  Again, a very handsome, good-looking guy - or, at least, he was BITD - who also could be very quirky.  On soaps, they either write to one, or to the other, but never to both.

Ironically, Ken Corday won't cast him on DAYS because he "doesn't get him," or so KS has said.  Yet, for some reason, I think he'd do very well playing a Mike Horton recast, giving that character layers and colors that other actors haven't, while still remaining true to who Mike has always been.

Someone probably said this already but Roger Howarth as Franco. Just no

I might be in the minority but I found Billy's portrayal as a tortured lost soul AJ, to be pretty sympathetic. It's when they outright made him vengeful and psychotic and trying to get his son back is where the character fell off. It wasn't until later I realized AJ was on GH as late as 2005.

But I totally concede that Sean K was the superior AJ.

TBH, I don't think there's ever been a definitive AJ Quartermaine.  Which is odd, considering his pivotal place in the show's history.  But AJ's like casting kryptonite for GH, lol.

    • It was a good episode. I didn't expect things to unravel so soon.   One thing I still don't like about these big events: Where was everyone else?   This is a big event. Everyone should've been there.
    • Mitch, thanks for that history of the Reardon Boarding House kitchen.  I had always assumed that every time the kitchen set returned, it was a recreation of the original set.  So I have been wrong about that.   Was the kitchen set ever used later, while Buzz and the Coopers owned the boarding house?

    • Do they ever do anything well?  The show is about 4 week story arcs - if that it feels like.  Why wouldn’t you spend a month of subtle hints.  Late to events and don’t telegraph it.  Have repeated issues with time; I had a friend whose Mom suddenly was forgetting half the meal in the fridge to be heated for a meal; twice her husband had to go to her work to get her because she was still working and only noticed no one was there until he walked in to find her and make her come home (it was a doctor’s office, there’s not that kind of job);  knowing she had an appointment and not be worried by it, etc.   No, they have him do a head bonk and bam it’s cancer.     It’s almost an insult.

    • Today showed why almost no one comments on this crap soap. -- We're back to pretending that there aren't SCORES of cosmetics companies out there --  only Jabot and whoever else opens up shop in Genoa City to be the competition. No real business runs this way. -- Marchetti is supposed to be an internationally-renowned fashion house, yet both Chelsea and Sally are ready to walk after being high-level executives there. -- It's not often women leave choice executive positions in their field of expertise to work in a business they're clueless about. -- Sally had a lot of nerve shading Chelsea with "It's easy to see Adam's influence on you" when the same damn thing is happening with Billy. -- I'm glad Lauren told Michael to quit, since we've all been mouthing that for weeks. None of that story is helped by CLB's over-the-top acting. -- The scene with Victoria helping a sick, coughing Cole walk to their car on the way to the hospital was laughable. Wouldn't rich people call a damn ambulance? -- Claire was really concerned, wasn't she? She stayed in the doorway instead of helping her mother, and then headed right to Crimson Lights for coffee. Why bother with checking on her possible terminal father at the hospital?
