Lol.  That's fair.

I am not clamoring for more time spent on Sonny/Sasha.  I just think their relationship and scenes are nice.

Like I said, I just didn't mind the Sonny/Sasha scenes.  I am not dissecting the entire downfall of Sonny's character in the last 25 years.  It would take a mini novel for me to get into that.

It seem like he might be Trina's new love interest to me, but they rarely played them together and lost the potential for organic conflict with them on different sides of Sonny vs Ava with his loyalty and history to Sonny and her history and friendship to Ava. But I do wonder if that was really the original plan. I would be curious.

I am not sure there ever was a plan for Gio.  It really seems like GM was hired to appear and play at the wedding and Frank liked him.   Then the show just inserted him into the Joss/Trina group and the Q's while they tried to figure out what to do with the character.  Why the show landed on Brook/Dante's secret summer camp love child is a mystery to me though lol.

Uneven. But I guess if I had to choose after playing unexpected catch-up on this past week how I would go with ER vs CVE as lead, I am going to have to go with ER with her Carly stan self. Because the episodes where her name is lead in the credits usually have some form of emotional resonance to their writing regardless of the stupid stuff that runs through both of their writings.

I don't like the 'Where's Charlotte' storyline, but I did like the Dante/Lulu scenes. AB played that mix of feisty Spencer, being a friend to Dante over being in love with Sam now, and of course adjusting to it all very well. And I felt those scenes were allowed to breath as two people who loved each other once trying to relate to each other again.

Love the fallout scenes at Q Manor. And as I saw mentioned...yes, Tracy and Ned's reactions were the total highlights. I also enjoyed them ripping Drew to shreds. I enjoyed Carly going off. I felt Michael was the weak link in some good scenes. He only brought it at the end.

And speaking of stupid stuff in the writing? Of course, I'm talking about that sharp return to the wacka wacka humor 'style' just forced into all the above good scenes per Ava, Ric, and Lucas. As I was wondering what was going on Ava, Ric, and the bounced cards...in walks Lucas. And I rolled my eyes at the rl meet-cute cuz MW and VH were ATWT actors though duh they are related on this show...taking me out of scene. Cuz again, did they really have this many scenes under OldLucas? But the revelation that the reason Carly is broke is because of the Cassandines can only mean Nik is being petty OR Val is coming. RME.

And silly continued with Trina and Kai. They just can't do gradual on this show, can they? Like seeing Trina. Those scenes were bad.

So Dex is dead, dead. And I found the Joss/Anna scenes where Anna just popped up, though she had been at the hospital weirdly jarring. And EM was oddly underwhelming. But Liz's face when she realized that what was happening with Dex is the same as what went down with Sam was priceless.

And Nina/Willow vs Carly as the coda. Can't say I hate that. A classic Friday cliffhanger cuz it's Nina vs Carly really...with kids in the middle after a good fallout.

Overall, a good week though. Does that (scarily) make ER the stronger writer?

LOL!!! Them facts.

And it's funny you said that about O'Connor given what I just wrote. And perhaps it is just because I had the idle time to notice the writing style after all this time of watching and observing, but yeah, I definitely have grown to dislike CVE's writing style. And now it's a case of two evils here lol.

    • That's been an issue with me... the lack of a cohesive 'Have Not' crowd that has focus other than Leslie/Eva.   I would beef up Jan, Mona, Laura, Joey, and few other male characters.. and not just be out to overthrow the Duprees.. but co-existing and broadening the scope of the show since the show is called Beyond the Gates. I think the set up the show has with everything revolving around the Duprees will become predictable especially if they always win.   It would be like Victor Newman on Y & R for 40+ years.. always winning, hardly ever losing.   With MVJ/Guza.. both trained under that mindset... I fear that will happen.   I've always heard from a performer that is playing a character like Leslie/Dana that you have to find the victim/hurt beneath the surface in order to play a villain/villainess... and I think that's why I enjoy watching her.. because she brings so much more to the part than what the writers put on the page.
    • I figure that was really hard for Dom to do. I completely GET why they wrote it the way they did but I wonder if it was necessary. Meanwhile I have 2 really icky ideas in my head. Drew is going to blame Tracy KNOWING it was not her. Dante is going to blame Lulu.  After that, everyone else is going to be mad at Lois.  Tracy is going to double down on wanting to get rid of Sonny. Sonny's going to be more dug in to stay because he now has a new descendant.
    • I can actually buy Brook Lynn being so self-absorbed and incurious that she never thought to question why her mom and grandma were so attached to Gio.
    • It was overkill and the whole narrative Lois was too nice to the orphan kid when he was little, WHAT? Like Emma said no one thinks Gio is a troublemaker that gets 14-year-old kids drunk for fun. That being said, Lulu figured this Gio thing out in episode, but Brook Lynn never once questioned Lois and Gloria attachment to a child that was the same age as the baby she gave up?  Ever?
    • Thanks for finding that. I may have been thinking of this blog entry.
    • Just watched the "Dante Screams At Gio" scenes. Jesus. Talk about overload and overkill. That was obnoxious.
