Having played many characters on “Saturday Night Live” over the last three seasons, comedian Sarah Sherman is ready to tackle her biggest acting challenge to date when she makes her debut on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital.”

Sherman is set to appear in at least two episodes of the series, airing Thursday, September 5 and Friday, September 6, playing the role of Robin Finch, a “spirited” etiquette teacher, or dialect theorist as the character calls herself, who’s hired to help Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) when it comes to how she speaks now that she’s become the spokeswoman for Deception.

In a preview clip shared by PEOPLE, Sherman’s character can be seen in the Quartermaine mansion being critical of the heavy Brooklyn accent spoken by Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) and Lois, starting from the moment Finch criticizes Olivia for the way she pronounces the word “croissant,” to which Ned (Wally Kurth), Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and even Tracy (Jane Elliot) can only look on in horror as things go down from there.

“I don’t know who you are, or what you’re doing in my living room, but I’ll pronounce my French pastries just the way I eat them,” counters Olivia. “Incorrectly?” Ms. Finch retorts, to which Ned stands up for his wife, saying, “Anyway she wants!”

After naming the area in which Olivia grew up in Brooklyn down to the cross streets simply based on the way she pronounced the “ah” while saying the word croissant, with Finch saying, “The closer to Bath Beach, the more nasal the tone,” it’s then the spotlight is placed on Lois.

“I’m Robin Finch. I’m a dialect theorist and tutor to the stars,” Finch finally says, introducing herself as she walks toward Lois. “And you must be Lois Cerullo! My new student,” she adds as she offers her hand to Lois for a handshake.

“I had the best time of my life and I couldn’t believe I got to act in a scene with ‘TRACY QUARTERMAINE’!” said Sherman in a statement released to PEOPLE. “I was so nervous about flubbing my lines, because I was surrounded by pros who memorize like a billion pages of dialogue a day. Also I met ‘Sonny Corinthos’ [Maurice Benard] so I can die happy!”

A repertory player on Saturday Night Live,” Sherman is a comedian and visual artist known for her traveling comedy show “Helltrap Nightmare.” Her credits include “The Erik Andre Show” and the Netflix film “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” among others. She recently completed a nationwide stand-up comedy tour, “Live and in the Flesh Tour.”

This was funny and cute.  This little character-based side story for Lois & her accent was delightfully different than the boring, recycled lead stories.  Seeing so many characters in the Quartermain mansion was nice too!

    • I think his full name is Chadwick.  I remember, back when the previous actor was playing him, someone called him Chadwick a couple of times.  It may have been Stefano.
    • I didn't like those two sleeping together, but I suuure liked seeing BF in them. Wiggle and all. Just sad about the waxing of the chest.   Same.
    • It’s strange. I wonder if the writers at that time had worked with him somewhere else and had a relationship? That time is murky AF to find info on. Rachel Ames in effect left the show at one point in the early 80’s and she is credited like she was there until JFP. Tristan Rogers also took various contract breaks that were not short, and websites also credit him one long stint from 1981-1992. So many people come and go in short succession in 1982-part of 1983. I know they lost a lot of viewers when Genie left, but the show somehow survived yearly at number one through like sheer force of will.
    • In that way, at least we were fortunate.  The Daniel Pilon/Ron Raines decisions...not so much.
    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his next scheme or threatening to have her sent down for treason. Once he croaks I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) off and on during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola gradually got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
    • A white twunk with no purpose?? On Days of our Lives??!!
    • It feels like the show hired Hank Northrop first and are still deciding what to do with him lol. I don't have a judgement on the character yet, but this non-story (so far) has been happening for at least a month and he's only made 2 appearances lol. Also, this may be a stupid question, but is Chad's name really Chadwick?  I can't find any evidence of that in a quick google search, so I assume it's just a silly nickname Leo calls him?  I feel like I've heard other characters (EJ?) call him that though too.
