BTW, speaking of those of you who like Johnny's ass, there is currently an image up on TwiX of Tom Pelphrey that you guys are gonna want to see. If you need the link, PM me.

Now, Eric & Nicole, so so very good. And, Sloan has been no slouch.

Y'all had me laughing my head off about the instances of DID in our little hamlet, Salem. I'm telling you, there's got to be something in the water!!!

I was trying to think how many Salemites have had DID.

Patrick Mulcahey has quit GH, so I don't have to be nice anymore: Ron Carlivati's writing sucks donkey balls.  And when it comes to having class, his WGA Awards speech from many moons ago proves he ain't got none.

So, I watched Dee on "Hacks" last night & I'll post in the other thread about it but here I just wanted to say that all the people who have said that the lighting on DAYS sucks eggs, were all 100% correct. The comparison makes it incredibly obvious!

Greg Vaughn was amazing! One little thing I loved is that in the biggest, most dramatic part of his fight with Sloan, his hair looks awful, like it hasn't seen a comb in weeks, and GV's hair is always immaculate!

Yesterday & today were so good for DAYS!!!

8/10 - best episode in a while

A few nitpicks: Jada was married to BobEtte for years and never suspected DID?  Isn't she a detective?  Holly texted an apology to Nicole?  Doesn't she live upstairs?  EJ thinks Nicole will quit her job to raise the baby, but she didn't do that for Holly or Sydney?  EJ and Johnny talked about the baby five feet from Chanel, how didn't she hear them?

I cannot believe Sloan confessed.  It was so simple, but I didn't buy EJ's "checkmate" statement, so I thought she'd find a way out of it.  Other than Dimitri's absence, I also wish that they would've just gone full evil Sloan.  I wanted her to scream about her dissatisfaction with baby rearing, and how awful Eric was as a parenting partner.  Especially because she had to be the breadwinner the whole time and Eric tried to guilt her every time she needed a break.   But, that ending was so satisfying.

I remain unconcerned about uninspired, conventional wisdom takes on the production model, which have no impact on my experience of the show.  We get it, they tape in advance and the head writer is gay.  Wake me up when you figure out one more thing about the show.

Opinions are subjective and do not require relentless responses for me to understand.  This is not an argument that people can win or lose.  Also being contrarian for the sake of engagement is not the vibe.  Please go proverbially rain on someone else's parade and allow us to discuss what is actually being streamed.  Because I am not better informed nor entertained by the projective hypotheses about producers and writers by pseudopsychoanalysts who endlessly provide the most reductive reactions.

Good episode!

It was weird Holly text Nicole because she's grounded so you would assume she would be home.

Ha!  Ron and/or DH must have googled DID like I did because Marlena said the same thing I did yesterday about DID being rare and misdiagnosed.  I guess I should be getting my medical license shortly lol.

Sloan/Eric and Nicole/EJ were of course the highlight.

I really am not into the Johnny/Chanel story.  I am glad they have something to do, but I don't find it terribly interesting.

There is really no great outcome for the plot.  Either the infant is fine, in which case their relief will seem odd given that they just met with this girl with Down's Syndrome.  Or, the baby will have a congenital disorder, in a town where men get heart transplants three years after they died.  Or she'll miscarry, and it will just be about what might have been.

It seems like an unfortunate political message, because 92% of all women who receive a prenatal diagnosis of Down's Syndrome choose to terminate their pregnancies.  In the absence of prenatal testing, the United States would have experienced a 34 percent increase in the number of Down births between 1989 and 2005. Instead, 15% fewer such babies were born during that time, representing a 49% difference between expected and observed rates. So, to make it into a "heroic" decision seems very anti-choice and vilifies the reason why testing during pregnancy occurs.

But you get my point, that making EJ against it, makes it seem like there is something valorous about raising a baby with a genetic disorder.  As opposed to an actual discussion about giving birth to a child who would likely face intellectual, adaptive, and medical challenges, when it is unnecessary.  I disagree with the politics of this story.

    • Yeah, Martin really did make me laugh when him and Smitty jumped up to drag Leslie out. I am interested in seeing how this fallout will impact his storyline as well. Especially since he is so protective regarding his family/family's image. I am interested in seeing how he will interact with Eva for the time being, they did have a warmer interaction earlier on once they met. But he seems to have doubts about her possibly being Ted's right now. I wonder how long it might take for him to come around with her. I could see the younger generation warming up to her quicker than the older ones. Though of course I think there will be anger/tension for a while regarding the reveal and her role in it. Perhaps Naomi/Chelsea will ease up on Eva first then eventually Martin/Kat might down the line. I really do love Nicole. I'm glad that DD is playing her. She really is the heart of the family and also agree the show. She is so easy to root for and I'm looking forward to seeing how things work out for her. I am enjoying the development of most of the characters on this show. I enjoy most of them including Bill with his trifling self lol. I do feel that Bill's love for his daughters is genuine and that gives him some depth. A few of the characters I don't care for that much (like Bill, Ashley, Vanessa). I wasn't too big on Andre at first, but I am warming up more to him as the actor is settling into the role. I like most of the characters on this show. Also, I am interested in seeing what happens if Eva indeed goes and lives with the new doctor that was introduced. I could see this adding another layer to her story, maybe she will become more vixen-ish, on what type of relationship they end up having. And/or maybe she will end up becoming more hardened as she deals with being an outcast, especially if she falls out with Leslie as well. I think that AM will do a good job of showcasing the different layers of this character as she deals with the fallout of the affair/paternity reveal.

Got another sad news from the Bahamian community (not a celebrity)  https://www.instagram.com/p/DJMSrYCgyes/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ== Former Bahamian Senate President J Henry Bostwick, Husband of former 1st Bahamian Female Cabinet Minister Dame Janet Bostwick is dead yesterday on his 86th birthday.    Thanks and for those who've aren't familiar with the talk shows in The Bahamas on this thread here, his talk show named The Freedom March with Dr Rodney Moncur that airs on ILTV and The Beat 103.5 FM Nassau every weekday afternoons. IIRC, he suffered a illness before he died.  Here's the link for his final taping of the show before his death: https://ewnews.com/this-is-powerful-rodney-moncurs-final-sign-off/

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
