Production on a shortened seventh season of “Venice: The Series” has been put on hold due to the Writers Strike, series co-creator and executive producer Crystal Chappell announced today.

Chappell says in a statement published on the show’s official website, “We were all set to lock down the studio and book some flights for the end of July. This schedule is still on the table BUT…nothing will be booked until the strike (WGA, SAG, DGA) is resolved.” She adds, “I simply cannot shoot without Union support. I HOPE that it will be resolved but, in case it isn’t, the shoot will be postponed until it is….”

Centering on the life of Gina Brogno (Chappell), a single, gay and successful interior designer living, loving and working in Venice Beach, California, the series tells a diverse story through her family, friends and professional life. Gina is a strong, confident and complex woman who navigates her relations with people through an intense yet thoughtful prism. “Venice: The Series” follows her experiences with her ex-love, Ani (Jessica Leccia), her brother, Owen (Galen Gering) and her father, “The Colonel” (Jordan Clarke) along with a myriad of other characters that make up Gina’s network of relationships. The storyline offers the best of traditional soap romance, love stories, tragic happenings and hairpin turns.

Throughout the show’s first six seasons, actors appearing on the series include Nadia Bjorlin, Hillary B. Smith, Wes Ramsey, Michael Sabatino, Tina Sloan, Cady McClain, Michael Corbett, Gregory Zarian, Robert Newman, Shawn Christian, Peter Reckell, Liz Keifer, Annika Noelle, Eric Martsolf, Molly Burnett, Lesli Kay, Christian Le Blanc, Judi Evans and Gina Tognoni, among others.
