After recent scheduling conflicts, the weekly Daytime Broadcast ratings reports are now back beginning today with the posting of the ratings for the week of July 18-22, 2022. Going forward, daytime broadcast ratings will continue to be posted on Tuesdays (Wednesdays/Thursdays when considering holiday weeks) and soap opera ratings posting on Thursdays.

With its best performance among Total Viewers in six weeks, “The Young and the Restless” (3.381 million) once again led the scripted ranks, gaining +102,000 viewers week to week and +11,000 viewers over the same week last year. In fact, for the first time since returning to originals, the drama was the only series to gain north of one million viewers over its performance during the same week in 2020, gaining +1.492 million viewers vs two years prior.

“The Bold and the Beautiful” (3.021 million) was back over the three million viewer mark, gaining +67,000 viewers week to week and a hefty +155,000 viewers over the same week last year. Exactly two years after returning to originals, the drama gained +916,000 viewers compared to its performance during the same week in 2020.

“General Hospital” (2.152 million) had the second largest week to week gain among Total Viewers, +105,000 viewers compared to one week earlier. The soap was also up +14,000 viewers over the comparable week last year.

Despite seeing a year to year gain of +7,000 viewers one week earlier, “Days of our Lives” (1.638 million) was down -7,000 viewers year to year and down another -12,000 viewers from one week earlier.

“TODAY 3rd Hour” (1.974 million) remained under the two million viewer mark but gained the most viewers among all daytime broadcast shows week to week, gaining +119,000 viewers compared to one week earlier.

“The Talk” (1.432 million) was back in last place among Total Viewers after a number of weeks ahead of “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna” (1.474 million).

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of July 18-22, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. Note: The numbers above are calculated using Live+Same Day viewing and DVR playback, defined as 3:00 a.m. – 3:00 a.m, and are courtesy of Nielsen. Household ratings are the percentage of TV homes in the U.S. tuned into television.

*Notable Preemptions/Schedule Changes

  • “Let’s Make a Deal” aired reruns all week.
  • “The Price is Right” aired reruns all week.

Notes: Viewing levels were hitting multi-year highs in 2020 during the initial shutdown of the country due to COVID-19. “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “The Young and the Restless” began their months-long era of classic episodes which continued through late July 2020 and early August 2020, respectively. Comparable 2020 figures for “General Hospital” will return in August as the show aired reruns for most of the summer that year and was not rated (NR) by Nielsen.

    • I think Dani cares about her sister, but I agree with you. She's using this whole mess to be heard and make herself feel better. I wish Ted and Eva told her to fck off. I had to laugh when Dani commented on her and Anita confronting Ted. She acted as if they destroyed him. That's not what I saw. Dani has been dialed back from those first weeks, but I can't say she's likable. As long as she's throwing shade at Eva for her work as a hairstylist -- while ignoring that she did nothing except eat celery sticks and walk the runway -- she can kiss off. Barely tolerable, and Lindstrom is terrible in the role. I don't find him scary at all, and his money laundering plan is stupid as hell. I gagged when he texted Vanessa to ask if she was thinking about him. That's throw up time.
    • Same. But given how the writers like to have her have good moments and bad moments...and Dani has been background as of late...it's about time she had some bad moments.
    • I don’t even know why you responded to the bait.
    • I only watch for Sharon and she’s barely on. The only good thing going at the moment is Jack and Diane scenes and they’ve made Diane such a wuss lately which is making that unbearable to watch too
    • I feel like Earl Hamner and his crew brought in Richard* BECAUSE they knew almost right away that Robert Foxworth was so dull as Chase.  At any event, Richard, IMO, proved to be much more interesting as Angela's chief adversary. (*Or brought him back, depending on whether we're including the original "Vintage Years" pilot).
    • And it will also eventually air S2, which will air its finale in Canada this Thursday, May 15th! https://tvline.com/news/law-and-order-toronto-criminal-intent-season-1-2-the-cw-1235449356/ As an American that has managed to watch it in real time, it's very good. Frankly, I think it's the best of the L&O franchise as of now.
    • You are getting like me. It's getting to the point that without any Damian sightings...it's been the fashion that is holding my interest. And it should not be that way at all.
    • I don't mind Jan either. If anything, they could be using her more to get her daughter's POV. Not to mention her role as one of the Have-Nots.    I also don't mind the local talent. Just look at soaps that were in NY or the shows that film there, they always go for the local talent and we get to find new faves.
    • I'm not going to watch (because...well...that M-dude...lol) but knowing the history between Henry and Roger, I could see Henry wanting to enable Hart to stay independent of Roger. I could even see it as Henry having the last laugh at Roger. Roger hated "the Henry's" of the world, which basically meant anyone who had money and social prominence. Twice Roger swindled Henry out of a chunk of his fortune, so giving some to Hart, who hates his father, is a form of karma.
