Of course, thanks for that,

One other thought I had about NBC's lack of success.

Did they have a bigger turnover of execs in the 70's and 80's?

If so this may have been a contributing factor.

Lagging in the ratings, they hire a new daytime VP who makes changes that don't improve things, so someone new is hired who does the same thing and so on.

Whereas CBS/ABC  may have had more stability behind the scenes which translates to onscreen.

Going to get together a list to see what was happening.

I know Jackie Smith came to ABC in 77(?) and steered ABC to the top.

Lin Bolen did the same at NBC in the early/mid 70's.

Likely because there base were former independent stations and the former-CBS stations appreciated the freedom to do their own thing.  Also, OJ happened in '94 and network daytime took a big ratings hit, this could've doomed any daytime plans Fox may have been developing.

Exactly.  FOX never tried developing a daytime soap (outside of TRIBES), because it would have been next to impossible to get the necessary clearances from their local affiliates.  They were much better off developing animated shows for the kids coming home from school.

    • Yep. Access to the Vault works fine but upon downloading attempts an error message pops up.   Maybe it is just a temporary glitch.

    • I'm pretty sure this ep is  from Dec 73 From the Daytime Serial Newsletter Ian and Valerie Northcote are deeply concerned over Laurie's  life being increasingly dominated by hallucinations and fantasies about Georgina, the former owner of the house the Reddins recently bought and are now living in. Doreen Post (Linda Purl) was involved in that story .Perhaps she was going to be revealed as Georgina's daughter? Wonder how that story evolved and whether it was wrapped up before cancellation? and thanks to @skylark

    • Many thanks to @skylark and @DRW50!
    • Thank u so much! I love that show and the more I see of it the more I want to find more of it even if it’s just in script form. But that house and especially the room looked like Victoria Winters room from dark shadows lol  this was great find! Thanks
    • I genuinely thought when they said she had been throwing up, we were going to get a pregnancy story. I’m actually not convinced we aren’t. Especially the way she and Doug danced around her own infidelity.
    • Shouldn't it be the other way? I don't think Taylor Hayes is playing Rebecca Budig.

    • And the most detailed discussion I've seen from an industry figure about some of JFP's worst choices as a producer (steamrolling over writers) was from another woman, Megan McTavish.
    • IMDb is definitely incorrect, because the final week of episodes in 1974 is uploaded to Youtube in audio form, and Mark and Laurie are there until the very end. The last episode shows Mark going back to the priesthood. I looked at the newspaper and the earliest reference to their house being haunted by Georgina is in December of 1973. This is dated Dec 14, but this same synopsis ran in the papers until the end of December in other publications. So it must have been within those last 3-4 months. I think Stephanie Braxton joined around 1969-1970 so that's probably right. I saw it stated in other newspapers that David Gale joined around September 1972.
