There were, of course, rumors he was doing the new Twin Peaks, which I doubt he got to film for if that rumor was true. In fact I only found out when a friend called me in the middle of the night to tell me someone wouldn't be coming back. But David Bowie can't ever really die. His new album is great and as usual shockingly ahead of its time. I recommend it.

My father loves to listen to this every Christmas. I remember when VH1 used to play it every Christmas. Bing Crosby did this because one of his children was a fan (I think), and David Bowie's mother was a Bing fan. It had an unintended poignancy because Bing died before it aired. Now it's even more poignant...

David Bowie's soundtrack album for the BBC miniseries The Buddha of Suburbia is too little heard, having been left unreleased for years. It's commercially available now and both its vocal and instrumental tracks are incredibly beautiful.

He was diagnosed 18 months ago and the footage and lyrics send a very clear message.
