January 11, 201610 yr Member As Vee said - i thought he'd live forever. What a fascinating man he was - the epitome of star quality and understated charisma. My favorite Bowie song:
January 11, 201610 yr Member There were, of course, rumors he was doing the new Twin Peaks, which I doubt he got to film for if that rumor was true. In fact I only found out when a friend called me in the middle of the night to tell me someone wouldn't be coming back. But David Bowie can't ever really die. His new album is great and as usual shockingly ahead of its time. I recommend it. A favorite track of mine that too few people know:
January 11, 201610 yr Member My father loves to listen to this every Christmas. I remember when VH1 used to play it every Christmas. Bing Crosby did this because one of his children was a fan (I think), and David Bowie's mother was a Bing fan. It had an unintended poignancy because Bing died before it aired. Now it's even more poignant... Edited January 11, 201610 yr by DRW50

January 11, 201610 yr Member David Bowie's soundtrack album for the BBC miniseries The Buddha of Suburbia is too little heard, having been left unreleased for years. It's commercially available now and both its vocal and instrumental tracks are incredibly beautiful. Edited January 11, 201610 yr by Vee
January 11, 201610 yr Member This at least made me smile, oddly prescient as it was... http://www.metronews.ca/news/world/2016/01/10/the-cincinnati-zoo-has-named-its-first-baby-animal-of-2016-after-singer-david-bowie.html
January 11, 201610 yr Member I am shocked. I had no idea he had cancer, this is a huge loss. He was one of the greats, one of the biggest, he went from glam to chic style, and he had good music. RIP to an icon. He will be missed.
January 11, 201610 yr Member Bowie's final video for his final single, "Lazarus."He was diagnosed 18 months ago and the footage and lyrics send a very clear message. Bowie's longtime producer Tony Visconti, on FB: He always did what he wanted to do. And he wanted to do it his way and he wanted to do it the best way. His death was no different from his life - a work of Art. He made Blackstar for us, his parting gift. I knew for a year this was the way it would be. I wasn't, however, prepared for it. He was an extraordinary man, full of love and life. He will always be with us. For now, it is appropriate to cry.
