Teacher Accused of Having Sex With Student

LAURENS, S.C. - A former fifth-grade teacher accused of having sex with her 11-year-old student was ordered held on $100,000 bond Saturday.

Prosecutors had wanted Wendie A. Schweikert, 36, jailed without bond, saying she was a danger to the community and a flight risk.

Schweikert was arrested Friday on two counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor after the boy's mother accused the teacher of having sex with him at school at least twice, authorities said.

Schweikert, who resigned from her job at E.B. Morse Elementary School on Friday, did not speak during the hearing, and did not have an attorney. The boy's mother tried to tell the judge how shaken her son was, but was choked back by tears.

The boy "wanted his mother to tell the court he was scared," prosecutor Jerry Peace said. "He is terrified that the defendant will get out on bond."

Laurens is in northwestern South Carolina.

Um....ok, this is honestly very, very sick. I hope these women get the same type of punishment that the men would get if they were doing this. She should be ashamed of herself.

How can you even have sex with an 11 year old and how is that fun? With all the talk of size, I just don't get it...

People are just so strange.

Well some guys like girls go through puberty a little earlier. Also I have known in the past and also learned in my social work classes in college on dealing with sexually abused clients that boys can have dry "finishes" with the same sensations as wet ones as early as 6 or 7.

But no I don't see the thrill she could have possibly had out of this, but yet I don't see alot of things that some people find sexually fulfilling either. With men you know sexual abuse is not just about the sex but power. Maybe it is the same with a woman who sexually abuses a child. Who knows? When I took my classes years ago we just didn't talk a whole lot about female sexual abusers as male sexual abusers were more prominant and more heard of.

I do believe that there are children who cross the realm into adult actions before their time, but this is sickening. I hate pedophiles.

The media needs to stop saying "Female teacher has sex with student". She molested him. She commited a crime. Sex is between two consenting parties of age. what she did is called MOLESTING. These people make me sick.
