I blame Universal as well. There was no way in hell that anyone in here was going to get the Jem filmed inspired by the 80s cartoon with a $5 million budget. That movie would need to be splashy, colorful and have tons of special effects. $5M wouldnt be enough to cover that. Making it more grounded helped remove the constraints imposed by the super small budget
