Here is the first negative thing I'll say about all of this... I don't like the new video at all. Very generic Taylor video. I expected more. I liked some of the looks, but overall it is... Meh. It is cute... But that's the most I can say. @Toups what do you think? 😊

I loved it - the sets, the costumes, the hair, the simple choreo. It's my favourite music video of hers that she's directed.

@YRBB

1) Severe lack of catchy melodies/choruses/hooks. The Fate of Ophelia and Opalite come close.

I disagree.  I'm a melody/chorus/hook-first guy and lyrics second.  Almost every song "sounds" good to me.

2) Immature, corny, nonsensical, simple, borderline amateurish lyrics panned by even hardcore fans.

And......??? You can find all that on every Taylor Swift album.  LOL  WANEGBT, 22, Shake If Off, LWYMD, ME! - just to name a few.  I think that is part of what makes me love Taylor - she's has these nonsensical and simple lyrics that most fans don't really care about.  We'll still sing these songs.

"when the coke's got you brave"

I LOVE THIS LINE!  It's freaking awesome.  Actually Romantic is one of the few instances where I prefer the lyrics over the music. "Like a toy chihuahua barking at me from a tiny purse / That's how much it hurts" is another favourite.  I think the song is brilliant.

"key that opened my thighs"

So many people really love Wood. So do I.....but mostly of the music production and some of the lyrics.  I will not sing parts of this song.  hahaha   I think it will be the third single after Opalite.

The really awful Wi$h Li$t were she mocks people for wanting fame, success, money

This is actually false. She says: "And they should have what they want / They deserve what they want / Hope they get what they want."

4) CANCELLED!????? Once Blake Lively started liking Taylor's stuff, I just knew: She's referring to that fantastic disaster.

We don't know it's about Blake.  Cancelled is spelled with the British/Commonweath version.

but it's entirely possible she has made a great miscalculation in her career with this album.

Umm..... you don't remember the beginning of Red when WANEGBT was release?  You don't remember the beginning of 1989 when Shake It Off was released? You don't remember the beginning of reputation when LWYMD was release?  You don't remember the beginning of Lover when ME! was released?

She has revealed herself as relatively shallow, vapid, a perpetual victim; sadly, what people have been accusing her of being.

She's allowed to have fun and be silly and be vulgar and have innuendos....and she's allowed to clap back, especially in a very fun way.  She's not out there liking shady/racist posts like Charli, or getting in social media fights.  Save it for the music - it's the best way to go.

I want her to win every Grammy possible for this record.  ❤️

Obviously, I would love her to win another Album Of The Year.....but I don't really want it to happen for this album because I want it for her next album, her 13th album.   Would love to see her finally win Record or Song of the Year for The Fate of Ophelia.

Taylor Swift’s ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ Sales Climb to 3 Million in U.S.

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl has reached 3 million in traditional album sales (physical and digital purchases), across all versions of the album, according to initial reports to data tracking firm Luminate. On the album’s first day of release (Oct. 3), it cleared 2.7 million sold. After Showgirl’s first day, it captured the second-largest sales week for an album in the modern era — since Luminate began electronically tracking data in 1991. The only larger sales week in that span of time was registered by the opening frame of Adele’s 25, which sold 3.378 million copies in its first week in 2015.

Showgirl has earned over 3.2 million equivalent album units in the U.S. (Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.) Of note, none of the tracks from the album are available to purchase individually on digital stores.

---------

Taylor is going to have the record for best first week sales. The only question is can it happen just happen with pure album sales.

"Actually Romantic" is... from now on... going to be the ONLY response I give when someone starts spamming me with private messages and harassing me with unsolicited attention. This song is such a "get a life... and leave me alone" moment. The new generation "Why you so obsessed with me?". ❤️❤️❤️

P.S. - It's so funny (and somehow disturbing) seeing all these women get triggered on the web... By a freaking pop record. And men too... even more surprisingly so... Some of them are so angry because Taylor has the audacity  to have a life, a successful relationship and dreams... and is moving on and daring to share how she feels about it. Some of them expect her to stay an unhappy teen forever... The absurd gaslighting and blaming game... Even saying that she is somehow anti-feminist or MAGA in this record and things like this... I saw even cringier comments by people who have no idea what these songs are about... They need to seriously get a life, because while they are bitching and moaning about her private life... she is going to be running to the bank... And they really have to think twice about why an album is pushing their buttons so hard. I think it's time for a therapist moment. LOL.

P.S. 2 - I'm so happy she is breaking the record once again. This album is the present the universe gave me this year... That I didn't even wish for. I find myself in all these songs. I'm 30... Soon to be 31 and... this album is the most relatable one in terms of themes and lyrics. And the sound is perfection... I like the soft-rock elements best. The fact that I even dream about the songs and wake up singing them... What more can I want?

"It's actually romantic..." (Singing to myself) 😂

Taylor Swift Breaks Adele’s Streaming-Era Record With ‘The Life of a Showgirl’

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl has now earned 3.5 million equivalent album units in the United States, according to initial reports to data tracking firm Luminate, since the album’s release on Oct. 3. Of that sum, traditional album sales (physical and digital purchases) equal 3.2 million copies, with the remaining 300,000 powered by streaming activity of the songs on the album.

Luminate’s current tracking week began on Friday, Oct. 3, and ends on Thursday, Oct. 9.

With 3.2 million copies sold, The Life of a Showgirl continues to near the record for the largest sales week for an album in the modern era (since 1991, when Luminate began electronically tracking music purchases). The modern-era single-week sales record is held by the opening week of Adele’s 25, when it debuted with 3.378 million copies sold in 2015.  However, as The Life of a Showgirl has earned 3.5 million equivalent album units, the album has now secured a new record for the largest week, by equivalent album units, for an album, since the Billboard 200 chart began ranking the week’s most popular albums by equivalent album units in Dec. 2014. The previous record was held by the debut week of Adele’s 25, which bowed with 3.482 million units on the Dec. 12, 2015 chart (mostly powered by the 3.378 million individual purchases of the album, with the remaining sum driven by track purchases and streaming).

--------------------

Holy crap, she broke the record for units in 5 days.  She just needs 179,000 pure albums to break the pure copies record.  Can she reach 4 million units?

True on the bolded part.  Here's Gavin Newsom using the song. LOL

Not only do I love the lyrics, but I love the way she sings in this.   "You think I'm tacky, baby / Stop talking dirty to meIt's cheeky/playful.  LOL
