Personal story: When I was a kid, I saw a relative once demonstrate flipping the bird and instead of asking what that meant, I decided to test it out. I stood in the window holding up my middle finger and some public worker very clearly saw it, as I could see that he was angrily telling me to knock it off. I realized then it was something that I shouldn't do, but still didn't find out exactly what it meant until some time later. First time I've told anyone that story.

I've got one for you. First grade class, Christmas time 1974, We had show and tell in our class each morning. So when it was my turn, I got up and told EVERYONE my new found information that there was no such thing as Santa Claus! Sucked all the air out of the room. LOL
