So wait- is this Miss America or is this pageant something else totally different?

Miss USA and Miss America are completely different.

There are two separate pageants--Miss America and Miss USA. This one is Miss USA. The big difference, from what I understand, is that Miss America has scholarship money offered as part of winning the crown, and is usually less flashy than Miss USA.

That's part of my understanding, anyway.
