September 22, 201114 yr Member Surprised by modern familys big numbers in demos and HHs. Glad for Criminal Minds for doing well and still beating MF in HHs. The X Factor had a weak start. I expected at least a 9 HH rating. It was third during the 8pm hour. Moving Harry's Law to Wednesday night was a big mistake on NBC part. Edited September 22, 201114 yr by Soapsuds

American Idol had a weak start also, but it could be cause it started in the summer.
September 22, 201114 yr Member American Idol had a weak start also, but it could be cause it started in the summer. I hope the Xfactors ratings pick up. I didnt see the show but did DVR it. I hope the show succeeds although its up against one of my favorites Criminal Minds.
September 22, 201114 yr Author Administrator Modern Family has the potential to get even bigger, especially once it hits syndication. I hope the show succeeds although its up against one of my favorites Criminal Minds. It's only up against CI when it's a 2 hour show - it's not up against CI regularly.
September 22, 201114 yr Member American Idol had a weak start also, but it could be cause it started in the summer. I don't think you can compare the two. When American Idol debuted there's wasn't any singing shows, AI started the whole singing/talent competition craze. X Factor's ratings might pick up a little bit (and it's still performing better than what FOX had last year) I don't see it becoming as big as AI. It was promoted heavily, everyone and their mother knew about it. Thing is, and this is what I said last year, we are hitting an over-saturation of singing/reality shows. We have AI, The Voice, America's Got Talent, The Sing Off, now X Factor. It's too much. X Factor isn't unique, nearly all the reality shows are down this year, DWTS is way off from last year & starting to skew really old. Where as most scripted shows (at least on CBS) are up to even from last year. It seems we are starting to see a shift away from reality back to scripted. Edited September 22, 201114 yr by wingwalker

September 23, 201114 yr Member Glad for Big Bang..it was really funny last night. Surprised The Mentalist didnt do better. Person of Interest did just blah ratings..and Charlies Angels ratings were mediocre. The X factor stayed steady......
September 23, 201114 yr Author Administrator Person of Interest did just blah ratings Just blah? That's pretty good for a new show and it beat Mentalist in demos and almost in Viewers.
September 23, 201114 yr Member Just blah? That's pretty good for a new show and it beat Mentalist in demos and almost in Viewers. The Big Bang Theory beat it though....although I thought the show was hilarious last night.....and Criminal Minds beat it too on Wednesday. I can see the ratings dropping. I just didnt get the show...it was just too boring for me to follow. I am really surprised by The Mentalist low numbers. I expected at least a 9 rating. It looks like comedies are what people are watching this season followed by the same tried and true....NCIS ...NCIS Los Angeles and Criminal Minds.
September 23, 201114 yr Member While Person's of Interest's ratings weren't bad, I'm sure CBS was expecting better. It didn't get any better that what CSI got there last year, which they moved. I love POI and hope it improves, but I have feeling if this only does "okay" and it's Monday lineup remains stable, we'll probably see CBS expand the comedy block to 2 hours next season.

The show has been talked about non-stop ever since Simon left AI. The Voice had a different element that attracted me to watching it.
