Members Llantano Incorporated
I don't want to do the AMC vs. OLTL thing anymore, but I agree with you and Max... And I think we will find out soon enough that OLTL was scheduled for cancellation all along.. (I mean its obvious now anyway). Part of me is glad that OLTL will not go out like a total ratings loser (but I guess that remains to be seen, after a cancellation announcement a soap usually goes downhill in the ratings instantly) I can't wait to find out the details. Members Llantano Incorporated
Oh its the create a quote by Lee Meriwether game! "So glad that this old bag Mary Fickett retired so I could become a SENSATION on AMC! I shall miss the fans and my $300.00 an episode paycheck! Fu-k You Mr. Frons!" Members OLTL_fan
Frons said it was hard to make a profit off both shows but he made it clear it was harder with AMC but of course u wont stop with this OLTL was going to be cancelled before AMC nonsense. Members You're Soaking in it
I'm hoping that's not the case this time around... You can't help but notice something different with AMC's & OL's cancellations, compared to previous soaps: The response has been especially passionate, wide-reaching, and continuing for days... Perhaps because this is truly the turning-point; the mark of the end of the daytime soap era. As critical as some have been about these shows, they are responding with support. And whatever circumstances led to Broderick being reappointed as head writer (even if it was a decision of convenience, you can bet the farm that "viewer sentimentality" - as a selling point - is not lost on TPTB), I really believe we are likely to have satisfying conclusions to both shows. But you know something? The ratings much more of a moot point now... I just want to enjoy what's left. BTW, @ Eric, I get a little "misty" whenever I see a clip of OLTL's opening from the time I first began watching... (And when I say "misty," I don't mean in the Karen Walker sense, ok?) Members EricMontreal22
I seen Kendall2 kinda the same way though I think she's had some great moments--like Erica's intervention.

Members EricMontreal22
Agreed on every term. When ATWT was canceled in particular--and this is no disrespect to fans--it shocked me but seemed to be a non issue.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Probably because ABC canceled two soaps in the same day, which was rarely done on daytime before. From 3 soaps to one by January 2012 seems drastic.
Members DRW50
ATWT didn't go down in the ratings.
Members EricMontreal22
The whole Merrick saga was what really hooked me. I hate when people claim Agnes ghost wrote a lot of stuff--but I think she was heavily involved still....
Members Llantano Incorporated
It was a total joke. My attempts at humor are usually failures.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
On one hand though, even though her trademarks were still there, a lot of McTavish's first stint seemed remarkably different from her subsequent stints and stints at other shows. I think her writing team at the time had a lot to do with it, as well as Behr, and Nixon's consulting.
