Okay how come it shows up embedded when I preview a post, but when I go to post it, it's gone?

How do I get youtube files to embed properly?

The last icon in the line where you find Bold, Italic, Underlined etc. is called Insert Media. Click on it and copy the full YouTube video URL there and you are done.

Ok I think I know whats wrong dragonflies. You are pressing the actual "embed" button on the youtube video and copying that code and putting it in the "insert media" button, right? (I just did that and got the same results that you're describing).

What you have to do is get the actual LINK of the video your on (the one in the address bar) and put it in the "insert media" button, then it should work. If that makes sense..

Or if you're using the embed code, you must turn on the HTML, which is in the Post Options when you click on Add Reply.

Last choice.

If you're just doing one or two videos, you can just post the link with no HTML around it at all and it'll automatically embed.

Jeez, Sylph, just try it before you look at me all strange-like!

As if you didn't hate me enough already, I had to add the bizarro looks too, LOL.

I didn't know about this one, so I was a bit surprised. :)

Another way to do it is to wrap it around youtube or video tags:
