September 18, 201015 yr Member http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/australian-tv/news/a277143/aussie-channel-brings-back-prisoner.html Aussie channel brings back 'Prisoner' Thursday, September 16 2010, 07:36 BST By Rebecca Davies Channel Ten have revealed that they are launching a remake of Prisoner. The Australian television soap opera set in a women's detention centre, which was aired from 1979 until 1986, will be reformatted and named Inside Out. Programming chief David Mott told the Herald Sun: "It's a story in a detention centre about a woman who, wrongly accused, seeks her revenge. We're very excited about it. We've looked at Prisoner for some time now and wondered whether it's time to revive the style of that show." Prisoner starred actresses such as Colette Mann, Sigrid Thornton and Kerry Armstrong and was known as Prisoner: Cell Block H in the UK and the US. I loved what I've seen of the original, not sure how a remake will go down though...
September 18, 201015 yr Member I wonder if this remake is to be Ten's way of making up some of its Quota points now that Neighbours is moving?
September 18, 201015 yr Author Member Possibly. Does Prisoner still have an audience that remembers it in Australia? Or does it have only a cult following left? I'm not sure about remaking a popular soap, but I think if done right, it could be entertaining. As I sad before, I loved what I've seen of the original. September 20, 201015 yr Member I need to get back into Prisoner. A few episodes after Franky died, it got lost in the shuffle on my laptop, but I miss it. Anyway, I'm confused. It's a remake, but they also say it's being "reformatted." It's safe to presume that there'll be all new characters, correct?
September 20, 201015 yr Author Member Yeah, I assume it'll be all new characters, but with the same premise and purpose as the original show.
October 17, 201015 yr Member One of the rumors is that Bea never died in the fire that was in the prison that she was transferred to. It will be interesting to see exactly what they do here. May watch just to see what it is like.
