Can we add some more firsts to Steve's list?

How about-

First daytime soap to air a primetime episode - Return to Peyton Place in January 1973

First character to be SORASED - Michael Bauer on The Guiding Light. Born in 1952. By 1960 he was 18 and married.

Steve has a note here about 2 of the things mentioned:

"Need to confirm these:

First SORASed Character -- either Janet Bergman on Search For Tomorrow or Michael Bauer on The Guiding Light

First Full Frontal Nudity By Actor in Playgirl While On His Soap -- John Gibson of Young & the Restless or Steve Bond of General Hospital

First Simulated Sex on Daytime Soap -- How To Survive A Marriage or Young & the Restless

Oh I was looking at Steve's original list when I looked for that note. When I cut and pasted over here, somehow I dropped the last item on the list. I edited my original post and added it.

This may be splitting hairs, but Rosemary Prinz was billed as "Special Guest Star" on AMC while a little over a decade later Beverlee McKinsey would be billed as "Starring" in Texas.

"Love of Life" credited some cast members at the beginning of the show in the early 50s, as evidenced here.

Some more-feel free to disagree as I am not 100% sure on them all.

First soap to go on hiatus for retooling- The Clear Horizon CBS. Off air for almost a year.

First real life pregnancy to be written into the show - Mary Stuart /Search For Tomorrow 1956. New writers killed that child off in the early 60's.

First 15 min soap to expand to 30 min -Love of Life

First twin story - Love of Life 1962 Joan Copeland plays Kay Logan, twin to recently deceased Maggie Porter.

First actor to play a different (major)role on the same show - Martin E Brooks/Search For Tomorrow. He played Dan Walton in 60/61 and then returned in 62 as Everett Moore.

First show to be taped in color -Ben Jerrod NBC

First soap to be renamed -Miss Susan on NBC- renamed Martinsville USA

First major actor to return to a role - Eileen Fulton as Lisa on ATWT in 1964.

Paul,

I don't see anything in Steve's notes about most of those. On two post it notes he does have the Ben Jerrod thing being the first taped in color.

He didn't have this in his list, but has a note:

First Character Crossovers:

1) Geoffrey Lumb from The Brighter Day to As The World Turns in 1962

2) Gary Pillar as Michael Bauer (with his daughter Hope) from Guiding Light to Another World on 7 Feb 1966

3) John Beradino as Dr. Steve Hardy from GH to OLTL in 1969

Oh I just found this on another post-it:

First True Villianess:

Claire Bannister (portrayed by Lesley Woods) on Young Dr. Malone

First Bad Girl:

Meg Dale Harper (portrayed by Jean McBride) on Love of Life

First Popular Villianess:

Lisa Miller Hughes (portrayed by Eileen Fulton) on As The World Turns

First Rapid Advance Through Med School:

Bob Hughes (portrayed by Don Hastings) on As The World Turns

First Real Life Siblings to Act In Daytime:

Christoper Walken & Glenn Walken (both taking time about portraying Michael Bauer on The Guiding Light)

Not sure why he didn't have these on his list. They may have been things he realized later and just never got them on the list over at SoapsWEB. He felt so bad those last few months.
