Members cct
Are you following Sylph? Looks like the reactions on Wall Street 2 are mixed. The big hit seems to be Mike Leigh's another year and Javier Bardem's performance in Biutiful. Seems pretty lackluster.
Members Sylph
Kind of. I was hoping someone could "lift my spirits", it all does seem rather underwhelming. The only ones, so far, I am interested in are Leigh's and Allen's films.
Members cct
The reaction to Allen's latest seems to be more Scoop than Match Point. Did you enjoy Viki Christina Narration, Sylph?
Members EricMontreal22
Here in Canada there's a lot of buzz about the apparently largely very good reviews the young Quebec film maker, Xaviar Dolans is getting (he's one of three Quebecois filmakers at the festival). Of course part of this could simply be Canada finally having something to praise about themselves but it sounds interesting (the last time Quebec had a major hit at Cannes was with the film CRAZY, which admittedly I loved and did give its filmaker, Jean-Marc Vallée, a big Hollywood contract--he just directed the pretty good The Young Victoria). Cannes Review: Xavier Dolan's Superb Les Amours Imaginaires The story doesn't sound ike anything new, especially in French lanuage cinema (a bisexual love triangle) but I guess people think it's really imaginatively shot. Members sheilaforever
Cannes 2010 has gotten harsh feedback. The movies were called underwhelming at best and most stars took a beeline off the Croisette - if they even came. Interestingly enough Berlinale 2010 was considered a huge hit in terms of quality films and overall festivities, although they also got very little star appeal this year.
