Season 4 had some ood parts (still prefered it to 6) but I agree it was a mess. I disagree though about the seriousness--i prefered it (gence loving Angel seasons 3 and 4 so much) and I think you're overstating the hipness thing. But we'll agree to disagree. I mean sure it tried to be hip but not in a sandard way really.

He prob should do a low budget show for SyFy or something now, frankly (and I don't mean that as a diss really--it's just the expectations attached to his name can't live up to the kinda non mainstream work he's increasingly interested in doing). But like a lot of show runners he's only as good as his team (I think Tim Minear in particular is a huge talent, but I do have to admit his work on non Whedon shows has been underwhelming)

I think he definitely needs to take his next show (assuming there is one) needs to be on cable. Sci-Fi seems to be failing left and right on the networks. Seems like these types of shows need a little more time to build an audience and cable can give that to them. I'd like to see what JW can do with a show that has a 12 episode order on one of the cable stations.

SciFi thrives where its given support and given low expectations. CW is a good example. ovviously SciFi network.
