Y&R: Who is Katherine's daughter?

It can be a contributing factor, but people use it as an excuse to turn in very shoddy work that they know is crap, but use the "daytime is dying" excuse to believe it's good.

The morale is low. No one puts any effort into anything any more, either they're severely burnt out, were never talented in the first place or just disillusioned with the whole state of affairs. People just don't care any more, especially those subwriters, who just churn something out to get that paycheck. And that's it.

If anything because "daytime is dying" it should force these shows to hire better talent and work on perfecting basic soap opera writing skills, which Y&R isn't doing.

Or... The other way around. Probably they're saying to themselves: why should we be trying harder when we know this thing will end in 5 years. With a better writer, in about 7. Not much difference.

It doesn't hurt to try harder, and like the DAYS case, when they went back to basic soap opera storytelling and worked on perfecting basic soap attributes, their audience came back and they're the only show up year to year. But yeah, they obviously just care about collecting a paycheck and not improving the show in any substantial way.

Some of those people are probably horrified by the stories they provide the dialogue for, but they are just happy they have a job, I presume. Depressing.

That, and also no one is after the title of SON Awards Best Scriptwriter!

On GL, Rauch decided to be clever and turned what should have been Reva's long lost brother into her long lost sister. So he may do the same again.

I remember that Sara was so sure that she had a boy but she had a girl

If they really want to expand Katherine family they can always have Jill being Katherine daughter. Maybe Mac will elave town of embrassment like last time. & have Tucker as Katherine long lost brother.
