What is the background for Reva and Vanessa from the 80s?  Were they friends, enemies, frenemies? I'm in December 1997 and they finally have a few scenes together 1:1 where they seem to be supporting each other like friends, but I've realized they've barely had any scenes together since Reva's return in 1995. I would have assumed Vanessa would be annoyed by Reva haha.

Another question - I noticed the 1997 Emmy reel for Cynthia Watros included her wedding day with Alan. I haven't watched that full reel yet because I'm about to get to it in my watch and don't want to be spoiled. But I'm now to January 2, 1998 and that scene and their wedding hasn't happened yet. How did she get to include it in her 1997 reel? Does the eligibility year align more with when the Emmys are aired, so it's not a strict calendar year-end?

Hi, I'm looking for a video that featured the character "Francois The Tailor"—according to IMDb, the character appeared in episodes dated Dec 10, 2008 & Apr 3, 2009. But he is nowhere featured in those episodes.

Does anyone remember his storyline from 2008/2009? Maybe he was involved in a wedding? If anyone remembers this character, his storyline, and which characters he interacted with, then maybe I can track down his episode. I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

It was kind of all over the place.

Reva was brought to SF by Alan to break up Billy and Vanessa. She told Billy their divorce never went through, and  blackmailed him into giving her a larger settlement. So of course they were not on friendly terms.

However, once Reva reconnected with Josh, she regretted what she had done to Billy. So she tried to fix things between Billy and Vanessa. She did not hold up the divorce and withdrew her demand for more money. She even encouraged Vanessa to reconcile with Billy and marry him.

Later, when Vanessa was engaged to Alan, he was also pursuing Reva, so again they were rivals. But Van ultimately decided to leave Alan to help Billy, who had fallen off the wagon in Venezuela. Just before she left, she and Reva had a kind of friendly goodbye.

That's about it until Reva returned from the dead, I believe.

It drives me crazy how it's so hard to find episodes that even happened in the 2000s!  Any reason why this particular character?

@vetsoapfan 100% agree about Adam.  The writing was just so bad to me. Tells you something when Blake had to have Tangie be her Maid of Honor!   There were some aspects of the wedding that were great (I liked the lady singing that song from the show) but mostly it just fell so flat. The whole fountain thing was just bizarre to me, the whole gift from Alan thing was horribly done and not funny.  The whole Alan returning storyline was just so badly written compared to when Roger returned.

I know that whole fountain gag is a theme on GL, but I never liked it. Lamest fountain ever as well.

Wait, what?

Why would there be a fountain gag at Blake's wedding, when the fountain is associated with Reva and her "Slut of Springfield" scene?

I haven't seen that wedding and would love an explanation, because that sounds incredibly bizarre. 😂

Thank you, very helpful :)

I thought it clumsy at best.  It was between Mindy and Alexandra. Why either of them would be at the wedding is beyond me.  They got into a so called fight and ended up in the fountain. Which was very shallow.

Anyone recall where they held the wedding?

Of course, there is no way to post the video as I can't find it.

Blake got pushed into a pool by Holly in 92 and Dinah in 95.  I recall seeing some YouTube video of Reva and one of her sons being pushed into a fountain.  Again, I don't get what it was all about or where it started.

Correction...Reva's son Jonathan jumped into the fountain.

@alwaysAMC the Alan-Annie Wedding is in the second half of January 98.  It was the first episode of GL i flipped on after returning from The Phillipines, didn't know what all was going on but it was an exciting episode.

Ohhh good, then I'm getting close. That still makes me wonder now how she was able to use that in her 1997 Emmy reel. I'll have to research that.

You missed a great December 1997 while in The Philippines, I'll post some notes later on :)

the eligibility criteria are episodes that aired from Feb 6 1997 to Feb 5 1998 - the wedding aired in January of 1998 - just making the cut of eligibilty to be included in her reel

Blake and Ross' first wedding? I swear it was on the steps of City Hall. It was in the vein of Frank and Eleni's 5th Street wedding, where it's sort of "outdoors".

Blake and Harley ended up in the Country Club pool in '90, when they're enemies (Blake's having an affair with Alan-Michael, and Harley almost uses a tape of them together to get a huge divorce settlement).

The fountain thing with Jon and Reva was a deliberate revisiting of Reva's "big moment". (BTW, after The Slut of Springfield moment, Rick sort of dunks Mindy into the same fountain and scrubs off her makeup because he's sick of her attitude.)

From the '80's? They go from enemies to almost friend-adjacent In-Laws. They are never overtly friendly (as Reva marrying/dating through the Lewis/Sampsons makes Vanessa distrust her) but they also never go out of their way to hurt each other either. There are significant moments when they put their cards out on the table with each other. Vanessa warns Reva that Billy is out to get her (when Josh is paralyzed)  before she walks out on Billy. Reva tries to get Van to see she's addicted to painkillers after Bill was born. They tussle over Alan briefly, which isn't as much against each other as trying to get Alan to mean what he says to either of them. It's Vanessa who realizes that Reva is more than "being Reva" when her PPD strikes. They're more friend-ish if they're both involved with Billy and Josh.

If they're not in the Lewis' sphere, they aren't seen interacting as much. Even when Maeve returns in '06(ish) they barely interact. Reva has an ITL where Maeve has a brief cameo, which is cute. But otherwise, I don't think they have a lot to do with each other until the final month when Billy and Van are including Reva in their wedding.

Josh and Vanessa are much more friends than Vanessa and Reva are.
