Oops sorry for no spoiler tags. It's obvious what this is... it's pushing plot. They don't even care to develop the character and the storyline he's involved with. They're ALREADY pushing for a rivalry with Billy.

LOL! I'm hard-pressed to find anybody who wouldn't agree. It's literally jumping MONTHS ahead in the story, for no apparent reason. There is SO MUCH good stuff to play with Chance. He still doesn't even know Phillip is gay. I know everybody hates TB, but for a second, let's pretend Phillip is played by a brilliant actor, for the sake of argument. I don't understand why you don't play out Chance getting to know his family again, dealing with the repercussions of what Phillip did, etc. There's NO REASON to play any romance with his character yet. Not for at least a few months. I don't even think you need to hint at it. It muddies the waters completely, and totally diverts his focus. Play the beats of a conservative military son finding out his father left him to go be gay. THAT'S your story. Romance shouldn't even be an issue at this stage of the game.

It's such lazy writing. They should remember what happened the last time they tried to have Billy get into an immediate rivalry with a relative. That being Cane. His reasons were extremely contrived (suddenly Billy wanted the big company job and love from Jill that he'd worked hard to avoid most of his adult life) and the scenes usually fell flat. Now he resents Phillip and he doesn't like Chance either. Why is it every single relationship Billy has to have with a male member of his family is this juvenile feuding? I'm surprised he doesn't hate on Murphy for not letting him wear the Kiss the Cook apron.

The last thing Billy needs as a character is more brattiness, more rivalries. They have already damaged him by taking away the one good relationship he had with his family (his bond with Jack). Now it's just more of the same with yet another relative.

Either they assume viewers will automatically accept any new character they bring in, or they believe viewers have too short of attention spans to be interested in the time it takes to set up characterization or build a plotline. Everything always has to be as fast as possible for stories viewers want to see build. Meanwhile, stories many fans seem to be sick of, like the awful quad, slog on and on.

Honestly it feels like they consider us idiots, not being able to understand anything but cliffhangers.

They are like children: they started from scratch (that being MAB) and started learning about the process. For a moment, they were praised for respecting history and fixing LML's mess. However, while writing they discovered that people talk about their cliffhangers and plot points so they figured they would keep our attention better if they kept bringing new stuff day after day without bothering to respect character development. They got stuck in a really bad place and I'm afraid they won't get out of it unless they are fired.

Wow, another spoiler that reveals that the show is only getting worse.

I'll just stick to DAYS OF OUR LIVES.

I am still crying (okay not literally crying since I never cry) over how two characters with so much promise, Mary Jane and Adam, have been utterly destroyed. So many places to go, so many wonderful storylines to go through and then they end up like this...

I would normally BEG for Donnelly's return as Diane, but they would destroy this character as well--probably make her into a murderous psycho.

So far, I have processed Chance as an emotionless automaton (at least he inherits that from his daddy) whose sole reaction to "back from the dead" is "NICE TO MEET YOU, SIR." Ugh ugh ugh.

You're preaching to the choir, sir. What is remarkable is that the team in charge isn't SEEING this. Why?

For irrelevant reasons, I'm reminded of George Bush Sr., who was amazed at bar-code scanning in the supermarket. It crystallized how out of touch he was with the world he was leading.

It truly feels like they lost their barometer. They haaaaaaaaaaaaad it. But somehow, it really is like someone in charge had a brain tumor, and forgot how to do this.

In the same interview where MAB said "my vision", she also said (or did, before) that she felt she was writing like her father-in-law.

Maria and Company's brand of storytelling so hallow and soul-less, so this doesn't surprise me.

We can forget about getting another Bill Bell. I'm convinced the networks want to kill these shows and the writers and are going along with the ride.

I really do hope a new writing and producing regime can eventually come in and redeem things, but who knows if that will ever happen or if things will ever change.

No one is ever going to write in that style anymore and I think the networks would try to prevent it.

We do need more competent writers and producers though. But really, at this point, I'm hoping for that and nothing is coming to reality.
