Behind the scenes with John Driscoll at Y&R.

Well, at least they aren't throwing him at that albatross Christel Khalil...

Is this Hogan's idea...

Deacon Blackmails Amber. If Amber wants Daniel free she has to have sex with Deacon.

Sounds almost exactly like the Sami/EJ twist that ruined that relationship forever for me. If he forces himself on her, it would be exactly the same scenario.

God, the HW's on this show are such a toxic trio.

Y&R deserves so much better...

Why? Why? Why this again?

Hogan Sheffer is one of the worst daytime writers ever.

Hogan obviously learned nothing from the backlash he and DAYS received for the Sami/EJ twist.

Maria Bell lets this crap slip through though, she probably think it's another "shocking " twist that will get people talking and bring in ratings, but it really won't.

Scott Hamner couldn't care less, this is right up his alley too.

As if the writing for women couldn't get any WORSE on this show already...

Damn, someone get these tools off this show!

They will probably say it's not the same, since Deacon and Amber have history, but it still seems very sick to me. Why is so much of this show about men degrading and destroying women?

I know it's not nice nice to wish unemployment on people, especially in this economic climate. However, we're the audience, we're the ones watching this show and we're the ones keeping it on the air. These writers just aren't delivering and every move they appear to be making these days is very damaging, IMO. They all need to be fired.

If you've already got Freddie Kruger and Jason Voorhies, then you start to wonder if Michael Myers would be that bad.

:lol::lol::lol:

Y&R made The Soup?! Holy Hell Maria, wake the f*#k up, girlfriend!

Please, can someone find the youtube link?

I'm intrigued by this casting choice. I don't know that we need another new character, but the return of P4 is kind of mandated by the P3 reveal.

Is this Hogan's idea...

Sigh. I sort of was expecting this.

I wasn't expecting a "sex" blackmail, but I was expecting Deacon to say something like "if you return to a relationship with me, I'll exonerate Daniel". But the sex actually feels closer to the truth.

This story was kind of already written, the minute it was announced that Deacon was returning.

Having seen the enormous DOOL backlash (which continues to this day), this seems quite misguided. But then again, having Adam cause a miscarriage and Patty poison a little girl and P3 feign death seemed kind of misguided too. So it's nice that all four major stories on the show might be equally misguided. We all wanted "balance" after all.

I don't know if it's still up on YouTube. E! is removing tons of clips.

It's not even funny, woman are constantly being victimized on this show, stories are constantly going in dark and twisted directions. This show is off-putting to watch, it might be entertaining to some, but this clearly isn't the show many initially fell in love with. I'm tired of this show always going down this path with this writing regime. It's unnecessary and suggests that the writers don't have diverse strengths, which is appalling for "soap" writers.

No. Scott Hamner would want Olivia to pen a Medical Murder Mystery and have Deacon use it as a template to kill off the cast.

Or have Murphy develop psychic visions.

It's all shock value all the time. Sheffer loves to have people do horrible things and then rush through the fallout. The DAYS fallout was disastrous. For months afterwards, he tormented her. Then he became her protector. One day, EJ was saving Sami's life. The next, he was excoriated as a rapist. Then she would make flirty eyes at him.

Most of this is so pointless and so depressing. Why did they even need to have Ashley lose her baby? Why not just switch the babies at birth? I think the story sucks either way but at least then I would not have those horrifying wig/dress/burnt fetus in the fireplace/examined by a doctor who molests women moments stuck in my head.

They think it's lots of fun to have constant victimization and torture, and what viewers actually want to see ends up coming a distant second.

Yeah, nevermind the fact that WOMEN are their target audience.

The reason why LMN and Lifetime probably stole viewers from soaps is, while LMN and Lifetime have their share of misogyny, at least the woman triumphs 98% of the time and becomes a stronger and better woman post-misogyny. Y&R, GH, and shows like it throw women into situations of peril constantly.

It's lousy, misogynistic, and nasty storytelling. Stories of that vein have become the norm on Y&R, and if I have to see this sh!t rationalized as to why this show is like this, I'm going to blow.

You know what gets me is that this show is supposedly being led by a woman, a professional woman, who is well respected outside of the industry for her work with the arts. Hogan Sheffer obviously has serious women issues. He doesn't seem to like them and is punishing them through his writing. And those who keep hiring him, reinforce that it is ok to write this way and see women this way. But as a woman, I am more disappointed in Maria Arena Bell for allowing this type of writing to take over this show. She should be insulted as a woman herself and yet she is taking credit for this type of writing.
