It's hard when you clutter the thread with your views.

Then clutter the thread with your views. I wouldn't be in opposition to anyone in this thread if someone wasn't countering my posts regularly. There's also the filter option...

She's more Vicky than AH is. Heather Tom is the first & best choice but if that ain't happening, something must be done. Among the many reasons I'm unhappy about CE leaving is that outside of Heather Tom, he's the only Victor kid to actually have serious chemistry with EB. Josh Morrow/EB aren't bad together but not special and AH/EB are just flat together. Even if MM does have chemistry with EB, the show is missing something by not having that dynamic Victor/Victoria connection. There's something inherently great about sexist Victor coming to terms with a daughter who can stand her ground against him. If we can't have HT, we need someone who can hold her own and even challenge EB. I bet Martha Byrne would be more than up for the challenge.

I can't see her as Victoria. I just can't. It would be a mis-cast of epic proportions.

Nah.

Whatever man, I'm bored with this.

Sadly this is pretty much the only place on SON that I find interesting, (well used to) which is why I keep coming back into here.

IGNORE, people. IGNORE.

Jesus.

Tried it. Found it to be utterly pointless. Ah well.

Let me help you dig! ^_^

Fine. Any other ideas if Tom won't return and Tognoni is going to OLTL?

Apparently, Tognoni and OLTL fell through, so Y&R could still alnd her if she moved out West...

I think having Byrne as Victoria would be hard to swallow as there would IMO be an obvious age difference on screen between the 2 actresses (Byrne and AH).

I think that AH could do wonders in the role if she were written better. I think she really has it in her to play a Victoria who can really stand up to her father.

Just one: The casting director should do their job and find someone who will do the role justice. It doesn't have to be Tognoni, but I know there are actors out there with the chops that can do Victoria Newman justice.

No she doesn't, she's failed repeatedly when they've tried to toughen up the character. The character needs better writing yes, but it also needs a stronger actress and one that is not miscast, like Heinle is.

I bought AH as Vicky when she first came back from Italy as the tranquil painter. Soon after the character just took a major detour.

It's not just a chops question. It's also a chemistry question. I don't feel any chemistry between AH & EB. Funnily enough, I think AH has terrific chemistry with MTS, JM, CE and even the chick who plays Abby. It's just not there with EB. She implodes a bit in scenes with EB. MB is 39, which is actually close to what Vicky's age should be. With MM coming as Adam and looking very much like a man in his 30s, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a Victoria who looks a touch older.

The big question is what they will do with Victoria. Is there a place on the current canvas for a complex female character? Is there anything left to explore of Victor's relationships with Nick and Victoria? The actress isn't everything.

I am not 100% about GT and the chemistry question. I would bet any amount of money that MB & EB have chemistry because MB has had chemistry with every single person she has ever acted against. She just has the quality -- Alicia Minshew has it, Vanessa Marcil it. Some people just always create chemistry. GT has a good track record, too, but not as perfect as MB's. The nice thing about GT though is that she does have a certain quality that is reminiscent of Tom (which is why OLTL had them play the same role), so I think it's a safe bet she could do well in the role of Vicky.
