Frankly, YRBB, I cannot fathom how early-Y&R fans put up with the show's original tendency to have characters break into song at certain moments in the story. (Never mind, of course I can...they don't do that anymore, lol.)

I'm hoping that Tyra was brought to GC not for Neil but for Caine. The two of them have greaat chemistry and Neil ( because of Lily) would certainly be in their orbit. Chloe does nothing for me and I could care less about her quest to snag Caine who knows what she's up to and seems to dislike her.

This is part of the classic Y&R formula.

I liked it then, and I like it now.

In the case of Ana and Tyra, I think Ana's pretty good...and this is really about establishing a connection to Ana and Tyra. Clearly, from "the other side of the tracks", these two are much more meaningful rivals for Neil's heart (he...with his love of family...and his affection for both Malcolm and Dru, both of whom clearly wore their lower socioeconomic roots quite openly) than the austere, cold, commitment-phobic, family-phobic Karen.

I see Tyra and Ana representing for Neil what he REALLY wants...as opposed to Karen, who has been a close colleague of convenience, but not a true match for his heart. From a hazy distance, they might remind him of a younger Dru and Lily.

This suggests to me that Rowell will return, but not till Fall or the new year. Tyra and especially Ana become PLAUSIBLE rivals for Neil's emotions. He will fall in love with Ana and want to be a father to her. Dru's return will take him away from the young new daughter who still needs him so much, and beautiful new woman who filled his emptiness.

With the rumored defection of large numbers of African American viewers due to the losses of Shemar Moore, Victoria Rowell, and to a lesser extent Tonya Williams and Davetta Sherwood, I think it is laudable that Y&R seeks to rebuild its African American core family base.

So, let Ana sing. And let Neil's heart melt a little more each time. This helps strengthen the emotional resonance of a story that I am very much looking forward to, even if it only exists in my own mind :).

You are right...I did notice that yesterday. Cane and Tyra really, really work well together...very sexy. But I still think the key to this story is Ana...she will be the route to Neil's paternal heart.

Cane and Tyra work together great and all.... but I'd give ANYTHING to see Cane away from Lily. That character is practically dead when he's around her. She needs someone different too.

Poor Lily. It's sad when she goes toe-to-toe in a scene with Chloe...and you're rooting for Chloe, lol. I wish TPTB would end the Cane/Lily relationship, though, or at least give it some conflict (that is organic).

OK, we get a glimpse of the old Phyllis, and it's wasted on Amber of all people? WTF?

Phyllis needs to scheme against Nick, Sharon, and Jack. First of all, it would end that AWFUL pairing of Nick and Phyllis and she'd be the outsider again. She's so much more interesting when no one likes/trusts her.

You know what I actually like right now? We're seeing a variety of different sets! We've seen the Abbot backyard/pool, the Newman backyard/pool, the Abbott pool house, a casino set, a hotel set, etc.

It seems like for a while the only sets we were seeing were the GC Athletic Club, Newman, Jabot, the Abbott living room, and the Newman living room.

Word, Y&RWorldTurner. You know what's so weird, though? On Y&R, I don't really notice that half the show's at the GCAC and the other half at Crimson Lights (and if I do, it's never a big deal to me); yet, when I was still watching GL, it (meaning, the limited number of sets) was all I noticed, lol.
