Loving/The City Discussion Thread

Thanks so much @dc11786 for finding those rare episodes and @Franko for the dates. I can barely log into here anymore or I would have said this yesterday.

Babbin made even more changes than I realized. I don't think a number of them worked, but the show was so moribund and lacking in any identity (admittedly the show never really had an identity until its last few years), I can see why she did what she did.

Oh dear! Hopefully that can be fixed. To shamelessly crib from Loving and still somewhat keep things on topic, SON without DRW50 would be like Ava trying to live in Corinth without "Jeremy, alive, at the studio with a smile on his face, putting up with my nonsense and not passing judgement on me. ..."

Thanks for the backstory @dc11786 on Trisha/Jeff/Janey. And the video.

I've liked rediscovering the show in the past few weeks. No story on Loving gripped me as much as the murders, but there were some gems. It feels like it could just never find its groove.

I've been on a Loving/The City binge the past few weeks. Does anyone have an archive of episodes? YouTube is so fragmented.

I know the CBS shows have one, but I haven't seen anything for Loving/The City. Would appreciate any help. Thanks.

You can watch this playlist (that is NOT titled) featuring cut-up segments featuring only the Clay/Ava/Alex storyline

Go to link below, then go to the link called "Playlist" and there will be 26 videos in chronological order covering Clay/Ava/Alex from start to finish. Starting with Roya Megnot and finishing with Lisa Peluso as Ava

Thank you for this. Ava is one of the standout characters. Lisa Peluso's version is the one I'm most familiar with and I always loved her spunk. Alex is cool too.

I just finished watching Casey's death. It's been years since I did so, and it made me sad all over again. Paul Anthony Stewart gave him so many layers. Although, I never understood why Cooper didn't give Ally (Tyler's mom) security to ward off any bad guys. But only a soap opera can Danny and Ally have an attraction after all that happened.

Speaking of Casey's death, Laura Wright is such a natural. Whew. She's always had a commanding presence, almost daring the viewer not to be taken in by her performances: from subtle to in your face. Her hair has always been luscious too.

Jacob and Angie are OK. The chemistry is there, but their AMC reunion was so much better since they got to be Angie and Jesse, not some hamfisted story.

I wish more of Agnes Nixon's rather Gothic 1993/94 run as Loving HW was on (per the Gothic element she introduced Dante as well as Jeremy's twin Gilbert.) As a watching from 92 through to the end of The City, that probably was my fave era I saw "live".
