I just want to thank you for this. You covered a lot of ground. He seemed a bit reserved...prone to describing things in cliches...which I assume reflects the fact that difficult topics were discussed.

If I was talking about my dead son, I wouldn't say, IN THE PRESS, "He had some good points and some bad points". I mean, of course, this is true of all of us. But in the press?

I get the sense that the wife and kids were quite estranged from Tylo...including the family therapy (that she is now suing for). Did you get any sense?

One of Tylo's big storylines on AMC was with "Debbie Morehart" (i.e., Hunter Tylo). There was not a MENTION of her in the article. Was that his choice our yours, AMCHistory?

I got him to agree to an interview the same way I get everyone to do it, I emailed him through his official site. He has a great manager, Connie, who set the phone conversation up. The transcript runs almost 14 pages, and it was a lot of fun.

Mark, I don't think he was reserved at all. I mean he talks about so many castmembers and memorable situations with each. I think he gave a really good insight to life at AMC in the mid-eighties, which is the point of these interviews. I want to collect a history of the behind the scenes life at All My Children, like a documentary. That is why my questions are so history focused, and that is purpose of the site. Again, I think Michael in his interview was quiet the contrary from your comment about being reserved and I think the article really shows that.

In terms of his family life, I purposely did not want to pry. I think Mr. Tylo and his family deserve privacy on this issue, and honestly it did not contribute to the purpose of the site. Mr. Tylo did bring it up in his reflection about his relationship with past cast members. They all rallied around him, which is amazing, and the point... that you become a part of a family when you join the cast. Though they may not talk every day anymore, these cast members never forget their relationship with each other.

Again though, I want to make it clear that Mr. Tylo was an open book. He talked about his life as a soap actor on all 4 of the soaps he starred. He talked about the influences of people like Charita (whom he affectionately called Ms. Bauer) and Susan, and then creators like Marland, Nixon and Bell. This is so much more than what soap stars talk about not only in my past interviews, but to the greater soap press!

I was very surprised to learn he went after the Greg Madden role and McTavish nixed it. Probably for the best since the role sucked but I doubt the average viewer would have recognized him as Matt.

Just to be clear...NO criticism on my part. I just wondered how the scope of topics happened.
