I loved AMC's Monday episode.

Dixie is back, thank God. But, it's obvious that this is Adam's hallucination, not the real Dixie's ghost. Still, I like her, but I agree with "DevotedtoAMC", stop with the annoying giggling.

KWAK annoys me.

And, yes, I really like bitch Annie. Thank God, we need a bitch in Pine Valley, and Annie, now, has a good material for it.

I actually don't have an issue with evil Annie. And while I agree that it's out of character for her, I do think that it makes sense given her history. We've already seen, with what she did to Richie, that she's willing to do something wrong in order to protect her family. Which, again, makes sense, as she's had to defend herself and those she loves against psychos her whole life (first Richie, then her husband). Plus, evil!Annie is pretty fun to watch.

And I adore ghost Dixie! She's hilarious, and she's got a really great dynamic going with Adam.

I also totally love the fact that she's probably a hallucination, and not a ghost. First, it means Cady can come back. And I love her! But also, it reinforces the idea that Adam has a conscience, and deep down, feels real guilt about keeping Kate away from Tad. And a morally gray Adam is the best kind.

I agree with everything. EvilAnnie is pretty funny. I loved the look on her face when the Japanese guys loved their proposal! I'm enjoying "Ghost" Dixie as well, since I love Dixie. Cady did tell the fans to give this story a chance, maybe the fact that Dixie is just a hallucination is what she meant by that.

I agree with both of you, too!

Annie is much more interesting as a villain and her whining to Ryan last year about how evil Richie was to her as a kid (breaking her dolls and other normal older brother behavior) suggested to me then that Annie might have a screw loose.

Dixie's cackling and toying with Adam just doesn't feel like what the real Dixie would do so I hope this is just a hallucination. I want her back alive ASAP!

Annie needed some spice and some additional color to her character. MCE is a good actress who is clearly capable of playing different shades to a character. Annie, under McTavish, was boring and neutralized because she was brought into the Rendall mix as a Greenlee place holder because of MCE's physical similarities to Becky. I think TIIC figured if the Annie character looked like Greenlee, then that's all that mattered. But the Annie character couldn't act like Greenlee because, obviously, there's only one Real Greenlee , and yet, the Annie character couldn't be developed into her own person beyond "Yes, Ryan. Okay, Ryan. You're a good man, Ryan," because a stronger, fleshed out character might ultimately change the dynamic between Annie and Ryan as well. So if they kept her bland and neutral, then fine. You wouldn't be able to say "Annie wouldn't put up with this from Ryan because, blah blah blah..." or "Annie wouldn't fall in love with Ryan because of yadda yadda yadda..." because we had NO IDEA who Annie was or what Annie was about or where Annie came from aside from the fact that she was just yet another helpless, innocent woman in peril who married a pedophile and needed her and her daughter to be rescued by big strong men!

It wasn't until the introduction of SabineLee and the introduction of Richie (where are people getting this "Ritchie" from? ) and the removal of McTavish that the writers started making decisions about this character. The Annie character started becoming more developed, stronger, intriguing... She was actually allowed to stop being neutral and shift into different gears... rather than "I'll just act anyway that helps me prop Ryan."

I think any scheming and plotting Annie is doing is a helluva lot better than "Oh, okay. I will just sit at home and watch Emma and Spike, Ryan, while you and the other men solve ALL my problems FOR me!"

    • John loved Sami unconditionally and forever
    • On May 27, Johnny spoke to Sami on the phone, and learned that Sami and Sydney were trying to fly in from Sicily, but were stopped by a volcanic eruption because the ash had grounded all the planes. As discussed on the May thread, ash from Mt. Etna in Sicily caused planes to be grounded in summer 2024, so Cwikly/Ford would have known that.  (I just learned that Mt. Etna has been considered "active" with intermittent activity since 2022.) Friday May 30, Will said that Sami and Sydney found another flight and will be here soon. Well, Sami and Sydney got out just in time, because … There was (and still is ongoing) a huge eruption of Mt. Etna that began very early Monday morning June 2 Italy time (which would be Sunday night June 1st Chicago time) and a volcanic ash plume had reached an altitude of around 6,400 metres (around 3 or 4 miles high) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/mount-etna-eruption-volcano-smoke-lava-live-updates-b2761911.html
    • Agree to disagree. Like first, love second. OH, agree, agree, agree! Legendary Featherstone, you're not dressing this one well at all. Petite woman with ample bosom, wrong clothes = awful  matronly looking ugh. I'm sorry but I felt hit over the head with everything each of them thought & felt for about 6 more days than I felt I had signed on for.  I don't know you well enough to know if you will know when I'm teasing, so I've just warned you that I am when I say, I hate for you that you haven't actually met Danielle before. LOL. To me it was just a natural take.  I have no problem going back & forth between those two focal sites. But, I am certainly aware that early on I had an expectation of being really into their having 27 sets & that has definitely not been the realization. And, yes, for now, Frank is still heads above any & all others with us & sets IMO.  Huh? Guza gone. I have it in my head that he was only willing to come out of retirement (and presumed mourning) for a "certain amount of time" to help get this new creature launched, but had no desire to stay & so was one of the "over-staffed intentionally" that we were told about. Of course there's been no official word on the circumstances of his leaving.  But, you might mean go with Guza as in a style, if so, ignore the last para.

    • I'm so pleased we have such fan engagement about Dani. Reminds me of some other soap characters. I think it's because they are "polarizers" which is a word I may have just made up. They are polarizing on their shows to other characters & to story & they are polarizing in the audience as fans seem to have extreme reactions to them, love & hate, not middling neutrality, ya know? Well, it's a theory.  To me the human being you seek has been amply shown especially to two people & both more or less recently. Her sister bond with Nicole, whoa, has knocked me back & blown me away. And, with Chelsea, over her budding sexual identity and awareness. She gathered instantly that something was up with that daughter & was laser focused on her for several scenes. Then, for a third, she & Pamela have finally, also recently, been so real & genuine & authentic.
    • Thanks, Paul, I did not know about his interest in the comedic elements or that he was one of our many people who came from the network! I have always liked Marlena de la Croix's writing, which is not to say I 100% agree with her. She's been a member of my FB soap group for a good long time & she actually posts, which I love. Recently I posted about an e-copy of Robert LaGuardia's SOAP WORLD that is free to borrow like a library e-book but on the Internet Archive site & I posted that at the time of their publications, all of his soap opera books were the gold standard.  She immediately posted about "Bob" who was her close friend & how much she still misses him to this day & that he loved to talk soaps & was also a nice guy, etc. which I was over the moon to have her share about the author & his time etc. like that!!!
    • Just more RTD ego trips, seemingly his main reason for coming back.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  That's a lovely writeup. Do fans feel it was warranted?
    • So I was reminded that we're now meant to be celebrating PRIDE by this amazing post:

I really wonder why they chose to write this whole ‘John is getting better’ part of the storyline, especially since we all knew what was really going to happen. And I hope we find out the answer someday. But as tough and as tearjerking as today was, it was also really beautiful. And the acting, even though a lot of it if not all of it was real, was spectacular. The flashbacks were beautiful too. I honestly can’t even describe how much I enjoyed today.  Having so many of John and Marlena’s scenes be focused on the two of them and their love story was the right decision. It was a fitting end to John and Marlena. And I’m also glad that John and Steve got to have one last goodbye after everything that happened. As for Bo and Hope and their family, I did think that some parts were a little unnecessary but I really enjoyed Bo’s dream and his reunion with Zack. The acting playing Zack actually did a pretty good job too. Everybody encouraging Bo to fight was really the right decision in this storyline as well.  As for the final minutes of today, be prepared. I actually have tears running down my cheeks as I write this.
