Members Kylie
I second that. I don't trust her as far as I can throw her anymore. As far as I'm concerned, she did as much damage with that storyline as McTavish did. Yes. Why not? If she didn't like it, why not say it? She sure as hell had the fans backing her up. She could have said it was a terrible idea and that she wouldn't sign off on it, absolutely. But she chose not to. It was nice of her or Susan to voice their so called disapproval. I could have maybe, maybe, given the whole thing a shot had Susan told me it was okay. Had she said to trust her and AMC to turn out a great story, but she's never said a word. Nothing bad. Nothing good. She's just towed party line. No one who had the power to stop it ever said anything to stop it. They just went with it. Why, I wish I knew, but I'll never see AN the same way again, especially because Erica was her character. The one she loved a little more then the rest. If she'll let them do that to Erica, I wonder what other interesting ideas she'd tow party line for.
Members EricMontreal22
I actually prefer Tomlin's era (brief as it's been) as HW on OLTL right now to his era as EP... THe show hasn't fallen off the rails as much as I thought it would since he had to take over for Carlavati... But I agree his style isn't suited to AMC and nor is Pratt. It's funny this annopuncement/rumour hppens just as I think B&E have been starting to get slightly more solid... Oh well That said maybe I would prefer Tomlin as EP. Or even Pratt (though I could see him turning Fusion into a clone of his first creation Models Inc lol). JHC has *got* to go, and while I don't think any major changes will happen with Frons there she's had WAY too many chances--I'm starting to more and blame the probs with the show on her rather than the writers
Members EricMontreal22
I adore Agnes but even when she had a lot of power she has ALWAYS been very very careful to not say anything to upset anyone. Even in that great 3 or so hour interview that's online when asked about people who we know she didn't get along with she chooses her words VERY carefully. It's just who she is and I think as she gets older and less power it's even more so...
Members EricMontreal22
Actually I think Walsh could do that--when she wrote Loving int he early 90s it was a huge return to the 80s small town AMC feel. But I do agree with you--when Agnes Nixon was co headwriter with Elizabeth Page (and then Jean Passanante moved in and then AGnes moved out and it went to Hell) we briefly had a mini return to that--even small character based side styories like Marian Chandler trying to get herself invited to Adam's meeting with the queen of England--humororus characters stuff
Members Kylie
I understand that about Agnes, and I understand it about Susan. That doesn't mean I respect them for it. When something is wrong. When a huge number of fans are outraged. When the storyline is being blasted left and right...there's no reason not to speak up. Not to say you don't like it. Does anyone really think they'd have fired Susan Lucci before they canned the Josh [!@#$%^&*]? I don't think so. Or that AN would have been blasted for agreeing with the fans who loved her show and her characters enough to stand up and say this is bullshit? Again, I don't think so. Some times you have to stand up for what you believe in because it's the right thing to do, and not care about what the consquences (as if there would have been any) are. But whatever. What's done is done. I wouldn't trust AMC with AN any longer, but I'm not watching, so whatever will be will be.

Members DevotedToAMC
Susan did say she was excited about the story in Soap Opera Digest but, again, she is a team player. I doubt she supported the story. Anyways, the other poster put it eloquently...Agnes had no power to stop the reversal. With or without her consent (I would bet on the latter), they were going along with it. Also, the networks have influence on what people say to the media...if Agnes came out with her disappointment and non approval of the story, odds are they would not have those type of statements made to the public
