Best and Worst Recasts

gh

tamara braun.

for me she is the defintive carly. i remember there was such a hoopla when original carly sarah brown left the role. people acted like carly could never be recasted. but from the first day tamara braun stepped into the role, i instantly liked her. she had potential. she made carly palatable and then even likeable IMO. she is a good actress and any soap is lucky to have her.

b&b

lesli kay.

felicia forrester is the free-spirited forrester daughter. la kay captured that. she is a quiet scene stealer. even if the storyline is not about her, she's mesmerizing. case in point: steph's shooting. felicia's reactions in the forrester press room (screaming, running/crying to steph and then attacking donna) were rewind-worthy. when donna kept ranting about psycho pam, a single "are you nuts?" look from la kay stole the entire scene without felicia having to say a single word. b&b's idiotic loss is y&r's gain if la kay temporarily transitions felicia to y&r.

THIS IS FOR MY WORST RECASTS!

b&b

kyle lowder!

disgusting! revolting! no chemistry with ANY woman on the show! horrible when paired with phoebe! even worse with taywhore. acted like a nuisance with ashley.

lowder does not even look like a forrester, or eric/brooke's child. at least jacob young brought some dramatic flair and believability to the part.

ashley jones!

jennifer finnigan you are not! budge has become boring, and underutilized thanks to jones's lack of talent and charisma. the only time budge garnered interest in years was when she was paired with carl during the marone egg storyline.

Davetta Sherwood as Lily. However brief it was.

Cady Stanton as Roseanna.

Jennifer Ferrin as Jennifer.

Jennifer Finnigan as Bridget. (I liked Ashley Jones better on Y&R as Megan and as a brunette)

I don't care if these people aren't on the show anymore. They were the best LOL.

Best:

Laura Wright

Gave Carly her edge and strength back, I'll always love her for it

Davetta Sherwood(ex Lily, Y&R)

Jess Walton(Jill, Y&R)

Peter Bergman(Jack, Y&R)

Kirsten Storms(Maxie, GH)

Lesli Kay(Felicia, B&B)

Worst:

Tamara Braun(ex Carly GH) turned Carly into a weak, Sonny obsessed anti-heroine. That's exactly who Carly's not supposed to be.

Sandra Nelson(ex Phyliss, Y&R) She was stale and bland especially when compared to The Stafford

Natalia Livingston(ex Emily GH) although a great actress, she made me despise Emily

Jacob Young(ex Lucky GH) he destroyed Lucky, end of story

Amanda Baker(Babe AMC)he is not Babe, not at all. They should have chosen Lauren Woodland or Erin Hershey Presley instead

Sabine Sign(ex Greenlee, AMC) made Greenlee a weak Kendall/Spike/Ryan obsessed psycho, character has yet to recover

no one has veer taken my heart and broken it so fast. lol.

Tamara is great. She did amazing work with the xrap she was given. She played Carly when she was at her weakest and most sonny obsessed. However, the moment they went all Carly & Lorenzo i knew TB was fab.

but LW is love and the haters can hate all they want!

I have to disagree. Tamara was able to bring sophistication, romance and vulnerability to the role of Carly. She has been the only Carly to bring a sense of maternal feelings to the role and make it believeable. Bruan was excellent and was a strong romantic lead and gave Carly attributes that she needed to make her sympathetic and rootable. She may have been Sonny obsessed, however she was still a likeable heroine who was able to make one bear threw Carly's irrational tendencies and make us understand her outlook and motivations for why she did what she did. Braun was one of the best recasts. Especially considering she came after Brown.

Wright is arguably one of the WORST recasts ever as she isn't able to invoke any depth into her portrayal of Carly. She turned Carly into an unsympathetic beast of a woman who is loud, shrill, idiotic and unlikeable. She has no level of class in her performence and doesn't even know the definition of the word subtly. She is good awful as Carly and is unable to invoke any sympathetic reaction from the audience because she comes off as a woman hating mysogionist. Good god she is just awful. There is no soul to her. Just this loud, shrieking voice that comes in and out of Sonny and Jason's storylines. She isn't even believable as a mother.

Jennifer Brandsford atleast had the excuse of horrid writing for a psychotic Carly. What's the excuse for Wright?
