brilliant article! now this is how soap journalism should be! everything was on point without the need for trashiness. it was hilarious, esp. the parts about b&b and atwt!

z9z9z9z9z9 RuRuRuRuRuPaul is that you?

Anyhow, GH was the only show I watched regularly (I've since tuned out since the lackluster, insulting Diego=TMK reveal) during the strike, and he's right about that show. It was just as incredibly dark as it ever was.

Over at One Life to Live, the scab material has been messy and lifeless. No worries. Head writer Ron Carlivati is back, and my spies tell me he’s furiously reworking the damage done by the interim scribes. As for General Hospital? These days the show is dark, violent and depressing as hell—in other words, no change whatsoever. Two other soaps also kept the status quo: The Bold and the Beautiful (still twisted and sick) and Guiding Light (still pretty darn dull).

Honestly, I think it would have been pretty interesting to see the scabs write for this show. Too bad we didn't get a chance to see it. It probably would have been better.

I think one of the biggest reasons GL's writing became even worse over the past few weeks, is because DK "stock piled" so many scripts before the strike. His writing was hit-and-miss at best before the strike, but trying to get so much in the can before the strike just made everything written even more haphazard. There were even a couple of shows where continuity didn't carry through the same episode, much less the same story!

I'm hoping things get better once we start seeing "fresh" material. Who knows, maybe DK had a chance to actually watch GL during the strike and finally picked up on all of the things the fans have been complaining about for months....

Hmmm..I remember a quote from David Kreizman during the "Take The Light With You" on ipods, and he even admitted that he never watched the show at all. Maybe sometime within the writers strike, he was able to actually see the show that he's writing for and how badly it blows...

Great post, Shakur! :)

Oh, you know Penny. She's never too far away (unfortunately).

I have been waiting for Penny to show up again just so I can get a few laughs. She always was good for humor but not the HA HA kind...the kind where you just laugh at the ridiculousness ;)

Maybe she got that writing job at AMC or OLTL? We can only hope! Her story ideas mirror that of the great Agnes Nixon! :)
