a black male singer auditioned in season 2. he was denied because of his stripping past. this season has david hernandez. he used to be a stripper. yet he is allowed to stay in the competition.

the same thing happened last year. antonella barba, a white "singer" had nude online pics. yet she's allowed to stay. frenchie davis, a black vocalist from season 2, was asked to leave after hollywood week because of her nude pictures on the internet.

is idol biased?

LOL! And I was just reading that David Hernandez performed fully nude and gave lap dances to the club's mostly male clientele. And his old manager said that David had the look that people liked and made very good money for a strip club that was alcohol free.

Is American Idol biased? I don't know. I really don't know what to tell you.

I think it is.

The team behind the show obviously doesn't vote the winners in. But in these instances they choose who to remove and retain on Idol. Why do they remove the black people, yet keep the other contestants who did the same thing? That shows the racially motivated bias of Idol.

It looks to me that Frenchie David didn't have one. She said that she wanted to be up front and honest about her past with members of the production staff. Then, the production staff told her that American Idol was a family show even though they had never seen the pictures AND she added that no one was able to find the pictures in question as the website that hosted them had been removed.

Antonella Barba says that the photos were photos of her personal life that got exploited without her consent.

Makes you think about all of it, doesn't it?

It's really disappointing that Idol is once again biased towards black people. I read that Barba was hated by the other finalists during semifinals week.

barba, IMO, was allowed to stay because she's "pretty," white and skinny. frenchie was not because she's a big girl and black. Even Frenchie Davis was interviewed about the Barba controversy. Now this with david hernandez. he stays because he's handsome and latin. the black stripper/ auditioner in season 2 is not allowed to hollywood because he's black. same old song again for idol.

frenchie was paid for her photos. david was paid for stripping. it's the same thing. frenchie leaves. david stays. the racism towards black people on IDOL is very clear. there's no debating it.

I dont think race hs anything to do with it. The stuff with Frenchie was back in season 2, 5 years ago. Times have changed and they've lightened up and changed their standards. Arent they allowed to do that? They got alot of flack over the Frenchie thing and if they were to kick David out now, people would be screaming about this too. I wish people would get over that and stop trying to find something thats there that isnt

wow, so in 5 years they change their rules to accomodate white girl barba and david hernandez? how convenient to excuse the blatant racism on idol. Idol owes an apology to frenchie davis and the other black auditioner for unneccesarily humiliating them for something barba and hernandez also did. if hernandez gets voted thru to the final 12, then he's taking up some other male contestant's place. he should not be there based on the rules they only apply to black people.

IDOL is completely racist for penalizing only black people for something that a white girl and dabvid hernandez also did.

yes in 5 years, their standards have changed. When American Idol started, they truly were going for an American Idol and the person had to be wholesome with no kind of past. Its been 5 years and they've lightened up and changed with the times. Its been 5 years, people need to let it go bc Im sure Frenchie has. David should go through bc he's a good singer. If the public has an issue with his past, then they will not let him through with their votes

the rules should apply for everyone.

if frenchie was asked to leave, david should be too. what makes him above the rules of idol?

if david stays, then frenchie should be asked back. of course that's not going to happen, so the next alternative would be for david to go since frenchie was asked to go!

frenchie was interviewed last year and she was pissed that barba stayed, while she had to be released. now david gets to stay too. it appears like there is a bias against black people.

david should just go back to stripping. he's not a good singer and he's taking someone else's place in idol!

america usually gets it wrong. :P

heck america often gets it wrong even when picking the actual winner of idol. hence kelly clarkson over tamyra gray, taylor hicks over mandisa (even katherine mcphee would've been better), jordin sparks over melinda doolittle, etc.

Poor danny noriega! he would have represented the queer males of color!

that stripper should drop his place in the final 12 for danny. frenchie davis must be pissed! first barba gets to stay, now hernandez. and neither of them are even half as good as she is.

If Frenchie was so great, where's her album? Getting kicked off American Idol isnt the end of the world. There can only be one winner and the show is only a stepping stone for future careers. In fact, its best not to win the thing. Has any record label swooped up Frenchie? Has she had a hit single? I think not. She got alot of recognition for appearing on season 2 but unfrotunetly for her, she couldnt use taht come back harder and showcase her music. She is more well known for getting kicked off than her actual talent and 5 years later, I would have expected more. AI did her a favor and she wasnt able to do much out of all the publicity and buzz she got from it.

giggle! as if you can equate releasing an album with actual talent! have you heard of britney spears or any other blonde bimbette clone?

as for not winning, ICAM. look at jennifer hudson! she has far surpassed kelly clarkson, carrie underwood, fantasia, etc. in the entertainment field.

    • Agreed. Certainly there was concern maybe even fear at the highest levels for the very good reason that what they had was so economically successful, so of course this risk was scary but if anyone was brave she was. Yes, he was. I have seen her associated with getting it on the air one other place but no details nor official title. Not the writer or creator so it made me wonder if she functioned as a kind of uncredited ad hoc producer, but then maybe she just supported it. At any rate that is nothing but supposition on my part. No data! Yes, not a surprise anymore but still so frustrating! On one hand I am appreciative that she is included in this book, but scholarship where are you?!
    • that wasnt her point. She wanted to further demonize Ted; that was the main focus of their talk. She wants to ensure that Nicole leaves him so that he's free and single to be with her. At this point, I dont think she really cares what Nicole thinks of her; she just wants her out of the way Eva got what she got from Anita bc of Hayley. I think its important to remember that context bc they just dealt with an interloper that infiltrated their ranks and hurt her daughter in the worse way. Now you have another unfortunate girl positioned to do the same to her other daughter. The feelings are still too fresh and she doesnt want Eva to get the idea that she would ever be allowed the opportunity to play them again
    • Oh I've seem this! That's part of why I'm curious! The show could put EastEnders to shame on the gangster Aspect! Oh I've seem this! That's part of why I'm curious! The show could put EastEnders to shame on the gangster Aspect!
    • Eve was one of those characters that had the "Jessie Brewer"role. They had heavy storyline, they burned through it and now they are there for support and a touchstone in the community (Marland wanted to give Jessie story, but I agree with Monty...she best served in her connecting role, and keeping that damn Amy Vining busy so she keeps her nose out of things) So charcters are important and why they should have kept characters like Bridget around (even as she is more volatiles then Eve) who didnt need a big storyline but could have been behind the bar making connections and expostion, but Rauch wanted JEVA/JEVA/JEVA and DRAMA (which to him meant a lot of yelling and stupidity.)

    • A number of errors in the above article. You wonder how with all that research, how  they slipped through. I think they are conflating Women Alone with Lonely Women. I have never read anything of a serial called Women Alone. However,I am prepared to be proven wrong.   It seems Irna actually WAS interested in TV soaps as witnessed by These Are My Children airing in 1949 on NBC in the early days of TV.   I don't believe that was reluctance, rather simply good business sense as radio's dominance began to wane.   Inferring that was somehow connected to Irna who was off that show 10 years prior.   Again inferring that Phillips leaving 6 years prior had some connection to the eventual cancellation.     Again these two events are in fact one. Irna left ATWT only once in 1970 and returned in 72. She was not working on another P&G show at the time. So either she brought the ratings up or they dipped, depending on which above account you believe   Untrue. A World Apart debuted 5 years after she left AW. And AWA aired longer than a few months. Over a year in fact.   I believe Orin Tovrov was the writer. Irna was not involved in the creation of this show. And no mention of Masquerade an Irna serial  which was on air around this time.   TBD finished in 1962. As we see over and over, these inaccuracies are published and accepted as fact.
    • YES! While I objectively found the writing on RH (particularly during its first few years and then again in its final days) to be excellent, so many of the principle characters were unpleasant, and totally turned me off. I could never settle down and become emotionally involved with a group of people who grated on my nerves.
    • Ugh now we get a Emmerdale and Corrie crossover soon. ugh.. How desperate
    • This show is definitely not one to deserve the axe.  especially the New Year’s Eve episode was crazy wild! there is a place where u can download nearly all episodes from October 2019 til today. But they don’t accept new people. https://youtu.be/aD-IXEJjymU?si=19wtpwthSNYOe-4y   this is from this years winter break when the returned. I loved it
