Stereotypes You Hate

What stereotypes annoy you the most? About people or about places? I can only think of one right now and that is the one about the French being rude. I was in Paris almost nine years ago and found the French to be very down to Earth, lovely, classy, but overall just nice people. I think that stereotype comes from lazy people who do not bring a dictionary that teaches them some French. They do not expect you to be fluent but to know some words and phrases to adapt for the few days or so that you are there. In fact, I found the French to be nicer than the British (I was in London before Paris)...and the British are supposed to be the most friendliest and polite people in the world.

Now is your turn to share :)

LOL! Or how about if a gay person is friends with another gay person, then the heterosexual male or female thinks that just because the two people are gay, then they automatically slept with each other?

Oh, and all gays love Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler...

Still trying to think of some more stereotypes....

 YES!

I hate Babs. Overrated bitch. ;)

But seriously though, I know plenty of members of the Rainbow guild that look like they have a keg instead of a six pack. I just hate that gym stereotype.

Oh, and the one that says that all Irishmen are drunks. GRRR.

You go Erica! BTW I had no idea you were black...interesting :)....I loved my African American studies class in college. The history behind your culture is, while depressing, very fascinating.

I do not vote for someone due to their gender, political party affiliation (although it will be very rare of me these days to vote for a Republican while I am registered as a Democrat), and/or race. I look at how they stand on issues, their experience, vision for a better world, and see if it matches what I want in a leader.

Another stereotype that I hate is that all Kansans are from the country, I live in the city population 500,000 and counting. People watch the Wizard of oz and think thats all there is to kansas, well its true that western kansas is mostly country but when you go east and south there are cities and towns. An the most insulting stereotype is that we don't have technology, like we are from some third world country. One of my teachers stopped to help a driver that had a flat, they were from NYC, they were shocked to find out that he owned a cell phone. People need to educate themselves about other states in this country because what you see in a movie is not the whole picture.

    • I think the shocker would be if he's NOT playing Dumas. That's where Josh Griffith plays most of his stories. Now they have Cole "self-isolating" because they don't want to put up that hospital set. Will Cole cough himself to death at the GCAC? What a "storyline." I can't believe how much JG is playing with us regarding Nick and Sharon. The teasing has become pathetic, especially for Shick fans who want them back together. My guess is that he'll reveal his real name once he is exposed.
    • Maybe we'll meet Leslie's mama who'll be a former Articulette and they'll build the rival family from there that a lot of people seem to think is missing. It'd make sense considering Anita's been hammering on about going on tour and reviving her music career.
    • hahaha at the Brennan shade.   But even I saw this and have to agree. What's really sad is that some of the person on that list could easily have a love interest that is on the canvas. They just need to be written for.
    • The thought has crossed my mind. Tricia Mann-Grant did say in her EW interview w/ MVJ and DD, that Leslie wants to be a Dupree just as bad as she wants Eva to be. I believe now that's the direction they are going in, that maybe she is just obsessed with the family. I could be wrong though.
    • True. But I have always had mixed feelings about that twist. Since I love the Damian storyline which already had twists and turns. Also I could not wait for a new powerful AND BLACK businessman to mix it up at some point with Victor. It just seem like another twist that was added on for twist sake. And also for a character (whether I love him or not) to hijack a new and refreshing storyline so they can be propped.    Once good thing that I can say about JG is that he loves to keep the Abbotts in rotation. So I could see that happening with Diane. I don't think she has mentioned her backstory, either. I would be intrigued.
    • That's how I feel. Beats could have been played for the past couple months wherein Dante and Gio interacted and had a difference of opinion -- or something. I don't know. I do know that this crushing rant that blames everything on Gio is absurd. -- Reading over all the comments here about characters and couples, it's kind of amazing that we have any show left considering the number of times actors and writers and execs were given influence to make major character and story decisions. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    • Lol. But Jeffrey was weak to mama. Leslie can go dead because anger is a great motivator via Martin defending HIS mama and just not taking ish altogether. This ain't how it should be. They need not run the show like this. It's too noticeable. The way Eva said mama reminded me of Penny from Good Times. Instead of physical abuse it's mental abuse.
    • Oh, I see! You posted this on the general retro soap thread because of the voiceover.
    • Yeah, I agree. It's part of the reason I have shade picked on Martin's Secret being so on the backburner that it was about to fall off of it. With Dani/Bill/Hayley being the main tale to start us off and backburned and the SilkPress storyline being well paced, but not set to explode until May, Martin's Secret was the other main storyline that could have been developed. And after giving it a nice slow burn to start off, the story upped and vanished in Month 2. That left the show having to rely on mostly B/C stories to stay afloat to various degrees of success.
