2 hour (!) Video Interview with Agnes Nixon online

Marlena De Lacroix mentioned this in the comments to her online article about ANgie and Jesse and I thought some people here who would find it interesting might miss it--I assume it's ok to post. Someone (I'm thinking the lady is Miss De Lacroix herself) did an intensive, immense interview with Agnes Nixon on her history of soap operas for the TV Archives - a really important document. And it's all online, although it's divided into shorter sections it still took me a while to get through it--lotsa fascinating stuff about how writing for soaps has changed, etc (I think this was done ten or so years back?)

It *is* an incredible resource. And when I have a couple hours spare, I am going to check out Marlena's intensive interview of Agnes Nixon.

However, I noticed the other day that WashesWhiter is no longer on YouTube and all his/her videos have been purged. I find this heartbreaking. This poster was an indispensible resource on his own. I had been checking out some of the Another World clips he had posted featuring Steve Frame, Alice and Rachel. The intensity, anger, depth of feeling and romance of this triangle was beyond description. No surprise -- Agnes Nixon herself wrote it.

Weren't those clips from when Harding Lemay wrote it (and they were AWESOME) or were some clips with RobiNS trasser as Rachel actually posted!! If so I can't believe I missed them!

I managed to save his post of a 1969 OLTL episode... I wonde rhwen he left--I saw him online just a bit back...

Jack, I thought it was Marlena (and the woman introducing herslef was the "true" marlena0 just cuz Marlena mentioned that *she* did the interview.

    • Oh god I haven’t gotten to that episode yet, you have to be [!@#$%^&*].ing kidding me. I will say to my surprise, the Danny actor no longer bothers me. He has actually improved quite a bit.
    • I hear what you are saying, but I feel there is definitely an opportunity for improvement. If the set problem is to remain, then the whole focus has to change. Business has to take a back seat if there are no sets available to support story. As I have said before return to Jabot and have a number of characters working and interacting there. They seem super reluctant to do it but Victor needs to be a more supporting character.  Eric Braeden seems determined to carry on and that is of course admirable, but keeping Victor as this dominating force has been detrimental. Have a sweet reunion of Sharon and Nick and marry them off for good. Bring on Faith and I'd even have Adamson back as Noah at this point to support Nick/Sharon in a parenting role. They really need to bite the bullet and drop one of the following -Billy, Chelsea, Phyllis or make them recurring like Abby/Ashley with appearances or short term stories when appropriate. Free up some space for new or returning characters- Noah, Allie, Fen, Moses, even a recast Dylan.
    • Today was really boring. I get we needed to have Martin accepting Eva but man I needed some Leslie today. Anita being hung up on was intriguing though.
    • Yup, that's John Mahoney, a few months before the star-studded 1986 production of The House of Blue Leaves. Also, God bless TPTB for thinking that a circus storyline was gonna grab the hearts and attention of viewers.
    • I don't think we have. I suspect @Paul Raven could confirm it for sure.  ETA: off the top of my head, I counted 13 sets (counting the hotel room Doug/Vanessa made up in separate from the hotel room Ted is in unless it was refashioned).
    • Have we seen them? There’s a bit more variety than some of the other soaps but I feel like GH still has them beat. Right now everyone literally only eats at the country club or Orphy Genes. Jessica and Samantha look like twins.
    • Dante to Kristina: You turned out okay.

    • Am I misremembering or were they bragging about over 20 sets? Have we seen them all cause I feel like we haven’t and I’d like to see some more.
