Clifford Ryan

Ryan's nose knows no bounds in NOrthern Pennsylvania! Yep he told Annie today that he could smell the perfume on her but geez imagine what else he could smell if I had anything to do with it. You know I would go all out to make sure he would get a whiff of some farts and many horse manure and just anything else that is down lo and disgusting for Ryan. But since he gets lo so many times, it is not unusual to smell sh*t that really is puke infested and quite nasty. Just like he is nasty, he rolls for dollars as well as with the nasty things in society. Yep Ryan has that nose to smell where the icky bad stuff is and run towards it because then, for once, he would not feel out of place. Hey if my nose knows anything, it is that no nose of mine will go nowhere near the NOrthern landfill in Pine Valley, stuffed with your severed arm, whack whack, leg, three breasted octopus, and so much more that can be found in the dumpster. Again, Ryan can go there all he wants and just be rolling around like he rolls with Annie but for free this time (back then, I am sure he picked up some "tips" on the way to learning how to screw both physically and financially) and it would fit him. Let's face it....any time Ryan is around the crap and sewers, it is as if he was born there and dropped off at the point when he was born because the doctors figured out that he would never become an intelligent human being, one who amounts to nothing but just a good ole nose like some Busy Know H0 It All. That is the Ryan nose for you. He can even smell like a good ole dog about ready to hump the daylights out of Lassie all for some doggy milk if you know what I mean. Then again, if someone barks at Ryan, it would just be them speaking in his native tongue...but should I be insulting dogs when it comes to Ryan? I do apologize if all the german shepherds, collies, st. bernards, labradors, golden retrievers, COCKer spaniels, and so much more all fall down because I equate Ryan to their status. I do not think Ryan can even reach where they are right now because he is still a moron that deserves to live on a ten stomached shaped moon!

Annie never answered him

This woman is so pathetic. So now Ritchie asks her today what kind of sister robs her brother of seven years of her life and how does Annie answer? Nothing! She at least owes him an explanation for the sick and twisted thing she did in court by lying to put him away for a long time. This idiot has never owned up to any mistakes in her life, especially when coming to Pine Valley. I am so sick to death of everyone pampering Annie as if she is the innocent victim here when she put the chain of events in motion. Annie you suck!

Erica/Julia

I do not understand where the writers are going with saying these two have always had a feud. Last I checked, Erica gave Julia her shoes at her wedding to Noah, they never got into major fights years ago when Julia was first on the show, and both of them teamed up to take down Dr. Greg Madden. This does not sound as if they have been at odds with each other. Perhaps it could be that Julia does not like Erica over what she did with kidnapping Edmund/Maria baby? That does not concern Julia, however, so I am wondering what these writers are trying to do saying they never got along because, from what I have seen, they got along well.

Damn ryan for forcing erica to dance with him, that scene was god awful. Thank god julia came just in time so she could escape. An jack can forgive kendall but not erica??? Umm okay. :rolleyes:

Maybe I have missed something...... but where is Johnathan right now during Ryan's latest crisis?? I am just guessing that he is being featured ALOT less often as of late??? I just find it very odd that he has not been at the hospital supporting Big Bro. I hope that someone here can enlighten me.

I think the eppy today was decent overall- but why on earth were viewers subjected to Erica & Ryan & their 'Dancing with the Stars' scene??? I laughed out loud!

Annie made mention that she phoned everyone to tell them you are alright. Its fine by me The less I see of Jonathan and his Hova, the better.

It only took him 7 months to run out of money. He and Jacinda really need a class on budgeting blackmail gains.
Yeah, I get your point. It's a shame both these stories are happening at the same time. It makes Lulu look like a weird helicopter mom that won't let her kids do anything even if she has valid reasons. The show has written Lulu poorly and tried to make her the heavy in almost every situation since her return so it's not surprising.

True, I remember in the beginning that Bea had a much harder edge (and was shown sucking back beers with Floyd). You could understand a little bit why Nola was embarrased by her origins. Later, it was more like she was unreasonable in her disdain for her family. It is a shame they lost their edge.

It's kind of throughout the entirety when he talks about manliness (and comparing himself to that of Bill Cosby), etc., and how he tried portraying Ted's love for his wife, and how manliness is what needed to be shown. It was multiple comments kind of equalling why he left the role. The 'host' of that 'interview' kept jumping from one point to another point. It was all over the place.

He never discusses exiting BTG. He talks about how BTG opened doors for his career but nothing about his exit at all. And the interviewer doesn't ask at all.

The issue is his description of his self-described "manliness", and how he thought women viewers respond to that ... but all of that is alongside the homophobia he expresses.

Some text-based soap websites have typed up and posted their summaries of this interview, in which they state that he says he'd never portray a gay character because his portrayal wouldn't be believable to the viewers, and that it would be better if gay actors got such roles. People hurriedly reading those unclear summaries might buy that as a support of gay actors and representation. But it's not that at all!
If you watch the video, there's more * emotion * in how he says that, making it obvious that he's homophobic.

Marland would totally fit into that because his main strengths was complicate and complex plotlines with characters sometimes taking a backseat (His Guiding Light was worlds different in subtle ways to his predecessors the Dobon's (husband and wife team).
Bill Bell on Y & R also was very much into plot with character sometimes taking a backseat... and also he had a trusted co-head writer by the name of Kay Alden that did flesh out the characters (i.e Victor Newman, Jack Abbott, etc).
Brad Bell has no business being a writer... but he's actually in the plot realm and not the character realm.

Perfect example was the Doug/Vanessa/Joey story that had both of them slowly becoming ensnared in Joey's web with Joey using their addictions (gambling for Doug and Sex for Vanessa) to his advantage. Doug's 'death' with his son coming to investigate were the last episodes of Guza's stint and all of a sudden the son was sent back to school and Vanessa is now becoming pathetic without the cunning glint in her eyes that we saw in the first 150 episodes or so).
The Hayley bombshell was a great way swan song for Guza's stint. but the aftereffects have been a bit lackluster with Hayley since episode 151 with her making such careless mistakes (no way would she be eyeing Jacob's brother in plain sight, nor talking to Randy in public, nor being overly insistent on Bill drinking a special tea, etc)... and now this random chick that came out of nowhere.

I never really thought of the similarity. You're right, they are very similar early on.
Early Bobbie is also similar to what we know of Charlotte Bauer.
Beyond GL and GH being such different soaps, and the huge popularity of Luke, I think the biggest difference between the siblings is how quickly the show pivoted Nola away from a seedier world. Even after Bobbie was "redeemed" (which took much longer than Nola's redemption), her past was never truly gone.
Marland's choice to make the Reardons so nice outside of Nola also meant there was less backstory to mine compared to the Spencers. You had Ruby, who was kind, but also razor-sharp, a reminder of where they'd come from. Nola had Bea, who was the stock sweetie pie mother.
By 1982, Nola was moving away from most of the foundation of the character, and there wasn't very much left by the time Lisa Brown quit the show.
They could have brought some of that hard edge back in her second run, but it just never worked out, due to terrible, terrible writing from start to finish.

Hahaha Bell’s words on Kurt Costner has always explained everything I need to know. I’m sure Bell was very familiar with McCloskey’s previous work and in his head it might have worked, but between Bell’s admitted struggles and McCloskey being saddled with a lackluster terrible recast it was all DOA.
To this day I still believe TLW deserved that Emmy wayyyyy more than Stafford.

Mary Frann was also in the Tang ad with Florence Henderson. Polly Holiday (from Alice) was in the Mon in the Stove Top ad.

-- The hard right turn moving Leslie away from Ted and towards Marcel makes no sense to me. This just feels like another dropped storyline in a sea of dropped storylines. She was OBSESSED with Ted and now doesn't even mention him.
