Members Roman
You also know that the McCain campaign wants to suspend the Biden/Palin debate. I thought she was ready for this. I guess not, especially when, after Katie Couric asked her 3 seperate times to name one time John McCain voted for any type of regulation, Palin said "Let me look that up and I'll get back with you." just, just.......sad. Members George008
Couric took the prime example of McCain voting on regulation away from Palin in her question..after Palin offered it as an example...Couric wanted another... I liked Palin's initial response..it's more than some in congress [Obama] have regluated...Couric then quickly interupted by asking her again..."Can you name another example"?? If anyone looked desperate and silly in this interview...it was Katie..
Members George008
So you think McCain contrived this entire situation to avoid a debate? This is probably the most impacting decision he will have influence on is his 26 year career..I personally, give him big props on putting the campaign and debates aside..to help amend this bill... I'll ask you Redd, Do you feel Obama was reluctant to debate McCain by turning down the offer of townhall debates?

Members George008
That's what I would expect to happen if the Presidential debate would take the place of the Vice-Presidential debate... What's the big deal? It's not like both sides won't have the extra time to prepare. If Biden and Obama are so ready to take on their opponents then a few extra days should make them all the more fierce!
Members ReddFoxx
I heard about that too, I'm not surprised they are trying to suspend the VP debate too. If Palin's performance in a taped interview was this bad, she wouldn't fair much better in a debate.
Members ReddFoxx
It's politics, politicians are known to pull stunts. I don't see how much help McCain could be, he's not in the Senate leadership and he admitted he didn't know much about the economy, so what exactly can he offer? That was an issue of format, it wasn't like Obama was requesting the debates be postponed or anything like that.
Members Roman
And now I'm looking at Letterman. Dave was interviewing Keith Olbermann. They go to a commercial, and when they come back, David says that McCain was nice enough to call him personally and tell him that he was headed right for the airport and was on his way back to D.C. He then gets a word from one of his people....... And they switch to CBS Evening News. Guess whose sitting there getting make-up and getting ready to be interviewed? Right ..........John McCain. Letterman is PISSED!
Members George008
You're right...they will probably have a poor turnout for this lackluster decision...I'll bet half of Congress wont even be there...They just need the leaders, right? I guess format is a better reason for not debating than an enormous vote on a 700 billion dollar financial rescue plan..You're right he didn't want to postpone them, he just flat out refused.. Members George008
McCain probably just looked at Letterman's latest ratings and decided it wasn't worth his time! LOL! Olbermann can sympathize with Letterman about ratings....

Members bandbfan
Why should McCain get to dictate when the debates are? Of all the dates, he wants the day when the VP one is...

Members George008
It's really the vote on the rescue bill that is dictating when the debates will occur. It make sense to me to use the St. Louis venue that is already being set up for a debate on the 2nd..
