You also know that the McCain campaign wants to suspend the Biden/Palin debate.

I thought she was ready for this. I guess not, especially when, after Katie Couric asked her 3 seperate taimes to name one time John McCain voted for any type of regulation, Palin said "Let me look that up and I'll get back with you."

just, just.......sad.

Couric took the prime example of McCain voting on regulation away from Palin in her question..after Palin offered it as an example...Couric wanted another...

I liked Palin's initial response..it's more than some in congress [Obama] have regluated...Couric then quickly interupted by asking her again..."Can you name another example"??

If anyone looked desperate and silly in this interview...it was Katie..

The leadership in Congress isn't necessarily close to a deal, so the vote probably wouldn't be that soon and McCain certainly knew it wouldn't be that soon when he came up with idea of postponing the debate. I'm not buying that his request for postponement had anything to do with the vote, I think he's just reluctant to debate.

So you think McCain contrived this entire situation to avoid a debate? This is probably the most impacting decision he will have influence on is his 26 year career..I personally, give him big props on putting the campaign and debates aside..to help amend this bill...

I'll ask you Redd, Do you feel Obama was reluctant to debate McCain by turning down the offer of townhall debates?

McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/...ning-vp-debate/

That's what I would expect to happen if the Presidential debate would take the place of the Vice-Presidential debate...

What's the big deal? It's not like both sides won't have the extra time to prepare. If Biden and Obama are so ready to take on their opponents then a few extra days should make them all the more fierce!

I heard about that too, I'm not surprised they are trying to suspend the VP debate too. If Palin's performance in a taped interview was this bad, she wouldn't fair much better in a debate.

It's politics, politicians are known to pull stunts. I don't see how much help McCain could be, he's not in the Senate leadership and he admitted he didn't know much about the economy, so what exactly can he offer?

That was an issue of format, it wasn't like Obama was requesting the debates be postponed or anything like that.

And now I'm looking at Letterman. Dave was interviewing Keith Olbermann. They go to a commercial, and when they come back, David says that McCain was nice enough to call him personally and tell him that he was headed right for the airport and was on his way back to D.C. He then gets a word from one of his people.......

And they switch to CBS Evening News. Guess whose sitting there getting make-up and getting ready to be interviewed?

Right ..........John McCain.

Letterman is PISSED!

You're right...they will probably have a poor turnout for this lackluster decision...I'll bet half of Congress wont even be there...They just need the leaders, right?

I guess format is a better reason for not debating than an enormous vote on a 700 billion dollar financial rescue plan..You're right he didn't want to postpone them, he just flat out refused..

McCain probably just looked at Letterman's latest ratings and decided it wasn't worth his time! LOL!

Olbermann can sympathize with Letterman about ratings.... :D

Why should McCain get to dictate when the debates are?

Of all the dates, he wants the day when the VP one is...

I guess she needs more time to memorize the answers.

From CNN Correspondent Dana Bash

Biden and Palin are set to debate October 2.

(CNN) — McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned — but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

It's really the vote on the rescue bill that is dictating when the debates will occur.

It make sense to me to use the St. Louis venue that is already being set up for a debate on the 2nd..

Of course it makes sense to you.

This is true BS. This woman isn't ready at all, and now the McCain campaign is trying to shield her so she doesn't get out there, make a complete fool of herself, and then have everyone asking McCain where he got her from.

Obama should jsut show up and talk to the people. If McCain and Palin can't multi-task, then they shouldn't even be near the WH.
