I hope so. I couldn't tell you for sure.

Where do you think we would be if Clinton policies were in place during the war, mortgage crisis, oil prices, and 9/11? Wouldn't be pretty.......

Let's get Obama in there!...he will tax more than Clinton...sounds good to me...

LOL

Republicans did not give him the name Hussein...His mother did. Was she trying to link him to Islam?

I think this is just HILLARIOUS!! I have never heard of a politician that couldn't be referred to by his full name!!! How ridiculous is that? His name is off limits!!!

True...but keep in mind which party did the coercion.

Obviously there is a negative connotation when used in a certain manner. Is it normal to call people by their middle name, unless that's what they go by? Of course not. We don't called GWB "Walker" or BC "Jefferson." Why would anybody WANT to do this?

Also, the originally Community Reinvestment Act was opposed by big banks. Yet they were all over it handing out the loans...

I've heard McCain called John Sydney McCain several times...

I've heard Clinton called William Jefferson Clinton several times..John Fitzgerald Kennedy...Ronald Wilson Reagan..Frankin Delano Roosevelt.....Dwight David Eisenhower...etc....

Fact is most middle names of Presidents are known and used....Obama is the only one that seems to want to "hide" his...

Ok, maybe so. I don't profess to know the situation in your high school, and I may be reading too deeply into your comments based on some conversations I had at work today. I do not blame teachers solely for the reason why education is the way it is. I also blame adminstrators, communities, parents, students, government, etc. The problem is far too complex to base on one factor. Unfortunately, no one wants to look at this issue very deeply right now in this Presidential election. That's OK; the school house is only where it all starts. (snark)

Again, it is all about the connotation. People know how they mean it when they say it. If you truly don't mean anything negative, then okay, say it all you want.

And by saying Barry H, you are implying that his last name is Hussein, which is just wanting to make the "connection" that much clearer.

I will admit that I've referred to GWB as George W. But that again, is a different connotation. I don't mean to draw attention to his middle name at all. It just sounds "country" and he fits that image.

Well... I might consider ceasing the tactic for you, cct. But I think calling him Barry is mild compared to what has been said of Sarah Palin and her family...

"...she is their hardcore pornographic centerfold spread," columnist Cintra Wilson wrote in Salon. "She's such a power-mad, backwater beauty-pageant casualty, it's easy to write her off and make fun of her. But in reality I feel as horrified as a ghetto Jew watching the rise of National Socialism."

Palin appeals to "the white trash vote" with her "toned-down version of the porn actress look. Husband Todd looks like a roughneck. . . What normal father would want Levi 'I'm a [bleeping] redneck' Johnson prodding his daughter?"

"She's friends with all the teenage boys. You have to say no when your kids say, 'Can we sleep over at the Palins?' No! NO!"

"Her greatest hypocrisy is in her pretense that she is a woman."

I'm sorry you're offended by my references of your candidates nickname... but I'm plenty offended by the above. But nobody cares about that. Maybe calling him "Barry H." is my way of striking back at what I deem to be unfair...

Whatever the pyschology is behind my bad behavior, I'll take your request under advisement. Thank you for being decent about it.

It doesn't matter if the connection is there or not. It's not about a connection. It's about a scare tactic to connect Obama to a side of Islam of which he is not a part of. Many in the United States don't know anything about that religion other than those who attacked us belong to it.

I LOVED HER TOO! She was crazy but great on Desperate Housewives! And that "The Powers That Be" show in which she was John Forsythe's daughter as well! Many people she would've done a great Maris on Frasier too

    • That’s one of the things I’ve liked since the new writers came in; more interactions between characters that they hadn’t really had scenes with
    • Such a missed opportunity…
    • Loved Valerie Mahaffey as crazy as a box of frogs Sandy Cooper on Wings. 2025 needs to chill out already. May Ms. Mahaffey rest in peace.
    • She was great on there. And Wings. And so many shows. I don't feel like we get those character actors as much now.
    • Cady did have a southern accent as Dixie in her first few years playing the character... but it started to minimize the longer she played the character (which tracks because my aunt had a heavy southern accent when married my uncle and years living in the north has softened it quite a bit). Her initial stint playing Rosanna was partly due to mirroring the previous actress and eventually developing her own take on the character. And the thing about her take as Kelly on Y & R was that she was too sedate when she first took over playing the role (she was supposed to play a woman that had recently lost her child.. and trying to keep things together) and then went OTT crazy and didn't play it well.    And I don't care to remember her attempt at playing Jennifer on Days. I think this Pamela character is the first time she's playing a character from the start and I think she's like a kid at a candy store.  She's having so much fun trying different things... and I hope eventually she decides to settle on a more consistent character for Pamela (perhaps her love of accents is a character trait based on something traumatic that happened to her in the past maybe).
    • That's sad. I remember her mostly from ER and the shortlived, yet very funny, sitcom The Powers That Be.
