WTF was Carly doing in this event? All I remember was that she was still crazy and supposed to be in her mental home getting help but have no clue what she was doing in the middle of the train wreck

yup. Her first scenes were at LnL2's wedding. I loved her here. This was pre-Carly where the writers made a horrible wrong turn with the character

R.I.P.: Anthony Geary has passed away

It's too bad that there weren't better writers for Geary's final years with the show, writers that could have done justice and given a proper closure to Luke and the pairing of Luke and Laura. That attempt in 2015 to explain the character of Luke by revealing he killed his parents was so bad. And then having Luke's final adventure be a quick return of Frank Smith; truly horrible and beneath everyone.
It would have been interesting to see what Guza might have done to bring the character of Luke to a close.

Any thoughts you have on this episode or DAYS or The Doctors I would enjoy reading. DAYS of this period in particular is something I'd always love knowing more about.

Thanks @Maxim I appreciate the details about the changes you think Griffith is making, and the various books Malone is adapting to Llanview.
The main reason for the change in this story is soon Clint Ritchie will be offscreen for a good long while due to having an accident on his ranch.
I knew Lindsay was there for Clint, but I wasn't expecting her to also make a play for Sloan.
It's as if Marty and Lindsay have been conjured up to make Viki pay for her wicked ways.
I wonder if they may have originally planned to reveal that Lindsay was on Dorian's payroll.

It's interesting; back in 1979, I was disappointed in all three of these soaps, because to me, DAYS had fallen apart in early 1977 with the dismissal of Pat Falken Smith, AW had been crippled by the cast massacre of 1975 and the continuing decline in its writing, and The Doctor had also been the victim of poor writing under various scribes like Mel and Ethel Brez and Linda Grover. BUT! With modern-day viewing of episodes from this period, my criticisms are less harsh than they once were. While I still lament the less-than-stellar quality, the shows are/were much better than we have seen on daytime for a long time. Just seeing familiar faces is a treat in itself.
