I did have to say that someone mentioned EJ having done no worse than others, maybe, maybe not, but the difference is: those people faced some kind of consequences for what they did. EJ has NOT faced any type of consequences and is now being rewarded for his crimes. Tony Geary once said that if the writer's of GH hadn't redeemed Luke that Luke wouldn't be around to this day. Zendull, Lusam, Laison, Shelle, Carjack... im sorry, but crap writing and a horrid show has ruined Days, not EJ. Just like crap storys and a horrid show ruined AMC, not Zendull. EJ hasnt been redeemed. And if they tried all the haters would be whining about how Days is EJ propping. ... furthermore, so its okay for rape, as long as the guy is redeemed? The person being redeemed is supposed to learn from their mistake and show some growth. Right now all I see is EJ all up in his VICTIM'S face non stop. Members Loretta3938 Posted November 1, 2007 Members Share Posted November 1, 2007 Going back to an earlier comment about EJ being on almost daily...the highest episode count I've seen for EJ was 18 out of 23 episodes, and he was only on 12 episodes (out of 20) in September. Back in January, he only appeared in 6 episodes out of 23. That's not what I'd call a daily appearance since he arrived on the show. I don't think anyone on Days has been redeemed for their mistakes. Look at Kate...has she ever been redeemed for the things she's done in the past? Victor? Lucas? I think you'll find that the majority of Ejami supporters don't think what happened on Dec. 29th was rape...just a deal Sami made with EJ to save Lucas's life. Contrary to some opinions, he did not hold a gun to her head except to get through the roadblock. One fan even went so far as to check that episode out with a real attorney (I'm sure she took a lot of ribbing for that, since Days isn't real life) but that attorney, after looking at the episode and other episodes before and after it, determined it wasn't rape...she accepted his deal for freeing Lucas from the beam. EJ wasn't responsible for the beam falling on Lucas, or the answer might have been different. Truthfully, Sami did not look like a rape victim afterwards. It was consentual sex between two adults. Sami wanted something from EJ, EJ wanted something from Sami, they made a deal. It really went down just like that, IMHO. Im not sayting it wasnt rape because EJ didnt hold a gun to her head or didnt drug her. It wasnt rape because she CHOSE to do it. EJ was messed up for it yes, but it was far from rape. If you go have sex with a guy, even though you may not really want to, but you do anyways, is that rape? if someone sleeps with her boss for a raise/promo is that rape? if someone sleeps with someone to pay a debit offl is that rape? i know what your thinking "none of those compare to Lucas' life!" okay, granted... however it doesnt change it for me. She made a choice to sleep with him. And please, that entire "the writers and actors said it was so it was" argument needs to go... why? the studios also tell you to love Jason & Sonny on GH, do you? But she didn't have much of a choice, did she? It was either have sex w/ E.J., or allow Lucas to die. And even if Lucas wasn't her husband, or her son's father, I doubt anyone in Sami's predicament would allow that to happen, just because, they wouldn't have sex with someone they don't care for. (My God, can you just imagine what Kate's reaction would've been, had she found out that Sami, of all people, could have prevented her son's death and didn't?) Look, I'm not saying it was rape because, technically speaking, it wasn't. Sami might not have wanted to have sex with E.J., but she did consent, and that shouldn't be ignored. What also shouldn't be ignored, though, is that E.J. was an absolute scum-bucket for forcing such a terrible choice on Sami, and he should be held accountable for it. I don't recall every detail but I do believe that EJ had a gun though he may not have been pointing it at her. It's pretty clear that he wouldn't have allowed her to just run off and go about her business because he didn't want to be caught and he needed to assure her silence. It's not as clear cut as being coerced into sex for a raise or a promotion. He offered up Lucas' life and under any under less extreme circumstances it's highly unlikely that she would have agreed to have sex with him when she didn't want to. Being coerced is not the same as freely and willingly doing something. They just tried to be very clever with the writing of this in order to pass it off as she had a choice when they know they wouldn't have had her let Lucas die. Sami didn't want to have sex with EJ and he knew that. Had she been the one to offer herself up in exchange for his helping save Lucas' life then it would be a different story. I also don't think having sex with EJ was her only choice that night. She was driving the car through the roadblock. She knew how far from that roadblock they were when she stopped the car. She could have said "no" to his deal and told him to let her out then and there. I don't think EJ would have stopped her. If he had...then I would say it was rape. My guess is that Sami trudging back to the roadblock would have gotten help for Lucas a lot quicker than sex with EJ and a trip back to the cabin with him...plus dragging an unconscious Lucas out to the road to flag a ride.
