Administrator Toups Posted August 26, 2007 Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2007 Watch any DAYS clip from the 80's/early 90's or GH from Mid 90's to early 2000's, and you'll clearly see why this man was the best soap music composer. I love his piano cues the most and my favorite couple's theme that he create was Sonny/Brenda's theme. Save us from us from Ken Corday and Brent Nelson's horrible background music. Ed Scott, you need the bring this talented man back!!
Members JenC
Anyone composing the music would be better than Corday! Help bring back class to DAYS, Ed!
Members Marlenafan01
Yes Yes Yes! When was the last year he was on DOOL?
Administrator Toups Posted August 26, 2007 Author Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2007 I think it was 1992 or 1993. I would love to know why he left DAYS though. Did Tom Langan or Ken Corday fire him, or did Shelly Curtis (a GH producer at the time who worked for DAYS in the 80's) steal him away?
Members PhoenixRising05
I agree. This man is brilliant. I think he does music for ER. I have seen him credited there. He would really help the show alot. If he was fired, then that was a stupid move.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Call me crazy, but i think the music on GH got better once JFP took over. GH's 90's music seemed too generic to me.
Members DrewH
Something needs to be changed. I'm sick of Corday's techno/porn crap. It's getting rediculous. There are scenes that should be very serious and touching, yet we have porn music in the background, or techno when a piano should be playing instead. Members JenC
I agree. The current music totally takes away the dramatic value of scenes and makes DAYS look like a soap parody, instead of being a real soap.
Administrator Toups Posted August 26, 2007 Author Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2007 No way. The music went downhill after Marty Davich left GH around 2005. I would love to know why he left GH too. Right now it's too generic. There's no theme anything.
Members MichaelGL
GH's music is so generic, it's laughable. Corday's porn/techno/whatever you call it is vomit inducing crap. It takes away from the emotional scenes and makes the soap into a joke. A part me thinks the reason why he never kept the orchestrated version of the show's current theme(also known as the Melaswen open) is for his own personal vanity. Administrator Toups Posted August 26, 2007 Author Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2007 Marty has the best music for sad/emotional scenes. Him coming back would add so much to the show. Music is so important to a scene. Having the wrong kind of music can ruin what should've been a wonderful scene.
Members DrewH
I totally agree. Good background music has a huge impact on the emotions in the scene.
Members MichaelGL
I have no doubt Scott will or try to bring more sweeping background music. His departure from Y&R is so evident these days with the kind of stuff LML has tried to pass off for background music.
Members Y&RWorldTurner
Well, to be fair, Y&R kept its music when Scott left in 2001. I doubt his supervising producer credit had that much weight from 2004-2007. LML's choice in music makes the backing music on MTV reality shows look groundbreaking. Also, as generic as GH's music seems now, I still think that show has the best backing music in all of daytime right now. Yes, I know, that's not saying much. Administrator Toups Posted August 26, 2007 Author Administrator Share Posted August 26, 2007 You mean that horrible rock&roll/electric guitar music or having songs play as the scenes fade out? LOL One of Y&R's longtime music composers, Jez Davidson, has already left the show. He was with the show for over 17 years.
