Members Actor87
Actually... Hogan only wrote for one vet during his whole tenure. And that was Barbara. The rest of the vets you mentioned were used to constantly prop other stories. Eileen is one of the most classiest and talented ladies of daytime. It's GOT to say something to TMFIIC when one of their most highly held cast members is criticizing their ability to write! She's been in the business far longer than they have. She's seen what works, what doesn't. It's not, however, her fault that she's the only one out of the "veterans" at ATWT that feels like speaking their mind when it comes to writing/airtime for vets. Members Josh
Susan had a storyline yeah in 2003 and then it pretty much died down and she played in the back burner until the day he left. Hoggie's story was to make Bob a murder! Blah!! And yes the fan outcry did stop that! Kim however has not been nothing more than a prop for years having the once a month heart to heart talks with Barbara or sparring with Susan from time to time. Tom and Margo's storyline was completely character assassination, something that he pulled out of thin air, because Margo would never have had an affair after what Tom put her through. Her liver transplant came and went in like two weeks and was never mentioned much after the fact. And I don't think we should start calling anyone names, especially someone who has devoted forty years of her life to a job, a soap opera and made this genre what it is today! Call Lisa a bitch, because she is, don't call Eileen one for speaking out against someone who stepped into her genre, her world less than six-seven years ago!! Members DrewH
Hey, I didn't say the ATWT storylines were good for the vets. Key point: HE WROTE FOR THEM!
Members KLN
For the most part, I enjoy Hogan's writing. I don't think he's the best writer ever, but I don't think he's the worst writer ever, either. I just wish that he'd balance out his use of the cast. This summer, it appears that he will, and so I'm cautiously optimistic. Phillip is really the only character that I hate. But then again, I hated him under Langan and Reilly, too. It's just the character... he does nothing for me. Good, bad, Jay, Kyle... doesn't matter. Philboy sucks. Hogan could really help things out, though, by getting him out of the 'prop' status he's been in since 1999. That, and the repetetive dialogue, annoy me the most. Members DrewH
Hey, it's a free country and I will call anyone I wish anything I wish after enduring the hatred and utter ignorance spit towards Annie Burgsted. Need I bring up the posts about her looks? Hmm?
Members Josh
Well you'll be further shocked because I enjoy most of Hoggie's stuff. He's just not balanced by any means.
Members Actor87
Yeah. To prop other stories and other younger actors with the show. So...what's your point?
Members KLN
The ATWT/Days veteran comparison just annoys me. It's not that Hogan doesn't like writing for certain characters just because they're veterans. Who writes like that? "Well, they've been here for 30 years... I'm not going to write for them." You either find the character interesting enough to write for, or you don't. Perhaps he didn't think the ATWT veterans were interesting, LoL. The Days vets are altogether different than the ATWT vets, and he might find them fascinating and have something planned for each and every one of them. Doubtful, but who knows? Anyway, Hogan might have great intentions of writing for certain characters, until the networks come in and say that they want younger demos. That could've been the case at ATWT, and I'm positive that it'll end up being the case at Days.
Members DrewH
My point? Dusty, I said it about 4 times now. HE WROTE FOR THEM!?!?!!?!?!!?!? What didn't you get?
Members Josh
I just don't think it's something that should be said about anyone especially when we talk about their job. And if you can find something that I said about Annie then so be it, but don't bring posters who have said stuff into this, there's not place for it. If I said fine...but don't bring anything from others in here please. Thank you!
Members KLN
Why? I was loving DAYS from late summer of last year to February of this year. It's only in the last few months -- when balance was thrown completely off whack -- that I got bored and pissed. Plus, I've said it before (and I'll likely say it again), I'll take a boring 'normal' version of Days over the "Summer of Melaswen/crackhead JER post-2003" version anyday. Odd thing is, Reilly had great balance when he wrote he show -- he just had them all in horrible stories. Hogan writes better stories and subtle characterizations, but screws with the balance. Go figure.
Members DrewH
I never said anything about bring up other posters? Did I name anyone? No, I didn't. I'm just saying that I'm finding SON to becoming quite hyprocritcal, and it's bothering me a lot. It's okay to say somethings because the majority feels that way, but when someone says something that the majority doesn't agree with, it's wrong and shouldn't be said. I believe this is a message board, where people come to vent and let out their frustrations or praise. If I want to say something about an actress I dislike (having no knowlege of said actor personally) I can do that because that's my right. I'm not personally offending any poster on this board. I'm not breaking any rules. Thank you.
Members KLN
Ditto. Decent writing, but for all the wrong characters.
