DAYS: Actors with Contracts Set to Expire in 2007

So, with the reported ongoing budget issues …and the influx of DiMeras this summer, I am wondering which actors might not have their contact renewed in 2007.

This information is from Jason 47s site:

Kristian Alfonso (Hope): April 2007

Martha Madison (Belle): July 2007

Peggy McCay (Caroline): July 2007

Frank Parker (Grandpa Shawn): May 2007

Julie Pinson (Billie): September 2007

Peter Reckell (Bo): August 2007

Suzanne Rogers (Maggie): June 2007

I find it odd that nothing has been announced about Kristian renewing her contact. Maybe it will be in the new SOD.

I wouldn’t mind Grandpa Shawn biting the bullet in order to kick start the Brady/DiMera fued. Hasn’t Frank Parker only made two appearances since the start of January? I could also see Billie leaving in September. They really don’t seem to know what to do with her character.

-- Staying...Belle is Hogan's (ATWT) Rosanna

-- Not looking good. We never see the old paddy!

Julie Pinson (Billie): September 2007

-- Good as gone. Hubby is off at work at Y&R now. She'll get lonely and quit so their schedules will somehow jive and they can spend some time together.

Peter and Kristian must stay, period. We've all seen what happens to the ratings when Bo and Hope are backburnered... can you imagine if they were gone completely?

I love Peggy McCay, but I'm indifferent to Frank Parker. Honestly, I could live without both of them, but I'd like to see Caroline at least on a recurring basis. She's one of those characters you don't think much about until she's suddenly missing from an event she should be at. I loved her involvement in the "Possession" storyline!

Martha Madison is a terrific actress, and although I'm sick to death of Belle/Shawn at the moment, she'll definitely be renewed. The only way she's leaving is if she quits, which is possible... I could see her on a primetime show. I hope she decides to stay, though.

Suzanne Rogers! She absolutely must stay. I love my Maggie!

Meanwhile, I wouldn't be so sure about them letting Julie Pinson go. Billie is one of the few characters on the canvas who isn't related to everyone else in Salem (aside from, y'know... Lucas and Austin), and they seem to like using her as a third wheel in triangles. Although they don't seem to have much for her to do in her own story, they get plenty of use out of her as a supporting character with her daughter, her brothers, her teenaged lovers and her ex's, LoL

Such a shame, but Peggy McKay and Frank Parker as gonna go recurring.

The biggest shame? Suzanne Rogers will also go recurring, I bet. A pretty fucked up way to treat your only Emmy winning cast member, whose been loyal to your show for OVER 30 years!

I wish they'd give Maggie a cancer storyline or something, just to have Suzanne Rogers rock the hell out of it. Days and NBC can bitch all they want about being snubbed by the Emmy's, yet they treat their only Emmy winner like crap.

I think that Julie Pinson is expendable and Billie isn't needed. Granted, this is the first time I've actually liked Billie in recent years, but she still could be written out and I wouldn't mind.

I like Caroline alot, love Maggie, but can live without Grandpa Shawn. He's always been so bumbly-fumbly and hotheaded or just bizarre. If they wrote him out as a result of the DiMera/Brady feud, that'd be a good way to go.

Kristian Alfonso's not going anywhere. DAYS can't afford losing a supercouple like BOPE right now.

I've actually heard rumors that Martha Madison does not want to renew her contract. I don't blame her.

Peggy McCay and Frank Parker I can see being dropped to recurring status. However, there were rumors that McCay refused to return to DAYS after the serial kiillings unless she was on contract, so I don't know waht they would do with her. She may be axed.

I don't think Julie Pinson's going anywhere. She loves DAYS. Hogan loves her. I don't think there's any chances of her leaving.

I could see Peter Reckell leaving only if Alfonso gets the axe, which I don't see happening.

Hogan writes for Maggie so I don't see Suzanne Rogers going anywhere. She's the new Alice.

If DAYS doesn't write off Alice, I'd like them for at least have so that Maggie (and offscreen Mickey) or Doug & Julie move in to Alice's home to help take care of her. It's ridiculous that they try to make us think a frail 90-something woman is still walking around Salem, making donuts daily, and helping out at the hospital. It'd also be a good way to make good use of the Horton family set, since it's been there since day one!

Writes what??? Background/filler scenes, she is contracted to have so many scenes. Yeah she had some good Max scenes about Abby but for the most part I dont' see her that often. I think she is the new Lisa from ATWT! Sorry...

Jay's as good as gone in 2008. He agreed to come back because he was promised that Phillip would have this big story, and they'd be diving into his psyche, explaining his actions as a bad boy. Well, he's certainly a bad boy -- an annoying one at that -- but he's been nothing more than a prop in the "Shelle" story. I bet he regrets coming back already and is just counting the days for January. He should've known better! Anyway, he sucks... I can't wait for January, either. :)

    • Christian Streaty wrote her second freelance script today on Days. Surprised they gave the first funeral episode to a newbie.
    • And the third thing, which I have no cite for, and I may look to see if one is findable, but supposedly she said that the show had too much gay content in it. And, to be fair, that could be someone making a criticism about balance & not be bigotry but when it's added to the other, that's why it bugs people.

The greatest tv series season finale in history.
    • Mick Savage was sooo unbearable. And more unbearable was the reaction from the female characters to him - they were acting like he is God's gift to women and sooo irresistible. To a point of unbelievable cringe.
    • Today was a short one. Only 33 minutes.  The ‘Part One’ graphic at the beginning was pretty interesting though. I didn’t expect them to do something like that.  I like how everything was focused around John and his family and friends. Again, the acting and the dialogue was very well done and well written. And I love that they were able to incorporate Drake’s, “swing for the fences” phrase into the script. It was nice seeing everyone interact with each other, especially characters who don’t often share scenes together. It felt like every character was part of a big family or community. Plus, an outdoor funeral in June makes a lot more sense than an outdoor funeral in December.  But yeah, it’s very, very strange that Will isn’t at the funeral, especially since we know that

I would much rather he had been there today. And, where’s Anna too? And Jack and Jennifer? What was the point of bringing them all back if they weren’t going to attend the funeral? I expected Steve to want to close down BlackPatch, though I’d rather he just retire and let Paul take it over. But I like that Kayla was there to comfort him. I wonder if he’s going to change his mind at some point.  It was nice seeing Shane again too. Now, he just needs to have more scenes with his son lol but I enjoyed seeing him comfort Marlena. I’m not really sure about his interaction with Cat though? Was it really necessary for this to happen now, at John’s funeral? They could’ve waited a little longer to introduce this story arc.  Btw, was Tate bleeding from his head in his first scene with Arianna?

    • Now this strikes me as funny. I have it up on my acct. The thing is I only have S2. Didn't want either 1 or 3.  Perhaps I should just list all of these that I have up.  Parodies: Dirty Sexy Money, Filthy Rich Incomplete: The Monroes, All That Glitters, Falcon Crest (have all just not all up), Once & Again S2 only Complete: Models Inc, Pasadena, Pacific Palisades, Paper Dolls, Flamingo Road
    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!
