That was beautiful. jase did a great job (and you too Darn). Soaps made a major mistake (well not that ALL of them are making it) in trying to make their show all about teens/ young twenty somethings. That is not the show's target audience, or at least, it is not what they are watching for. Soaps used to introduce the next generation as 30 somethings, family related or not, not low twenties. GH would have never had its star now with the the thirty somethings that were Brenda, Jason, Jagger, etc. They were not 20 or 21. Women in the 18-49 (especially the 18 one, really!!) do not want to see these Disney characters. This contributed greatly to the death of soaps and its continuing process.

The *It" Factor Actor du Jour. It seems still lost on TPTB that CHARACTER INTEGRITY MATTERS more to the longterm success of the show than one hot (maybe), but off-the-rack actor. If the actor is annointed...the character must be the winner! Always!

*glares at AMC's Hobilly Babe*

And especially at AMC, how many of those annointed stars (especially female) chose to move on. Some more successfully than others. GH has a string of Carly's, some better than others. AMC chose Babe over Cady MacClain's Dixie. AMC's Rebecca Budig, Eden Riegel, etc.

It wouldn't be so bad if the stories were well-written and well-acted, and were believable and relatable.

Yet somehow, soap PTBs have all chosen to assume that the younger generations prefer stupidity, mindless sensationalism and talentless eye candy instead. I've said this before- didn't people learn anything from the Milli Vanilli fiasco???
