From todays The Sun newspaper...

"EX-SPICE GIRLS guru Simon Fuller is planning an EastEnders-style US soap.

Simon, who is also one of the brains behind American Idol, is reportedly making Born In The USA, a soap about the lives of three working-class families in Philadelphia.

Last year’s American Idol runner-up Lisa Tucker has joined the cast along with US TV actress Tembi Locke.

Fox TV is making a pilot with characters including a Polish pub owner, a young Catholic priest, a divorced dad and an engaged couple."

Sounds decent, but I really hope they change the show's name. 'Born in the U.S.A.' just sounds so boring, especially for a soap.

Born in the USA is a horrible title. Use it as your theme, but name it something else. Like the city or something.

Well if its in the style of EE i dont think it will work, as a lot of people didnt get EE did they?

As for the name here are some suggestions....

"City Life"

"The Open Road"

"The Street"

It was originally announced as a prime time pilot in the style of Eastenders (even to the point of possibly running multiple episodes on different evenings during the week as Eastenders does.)

What's odd about this is Fox had actually worked with one of the long-time Eastenders writers on a US version of Eastenders a year or 2 ago but didn't pick it up.
